Wishmaster777: This might be the case with Metro - Exodus as well.
Right, yes it will (should?) be... I never said they were released at the same time. But im patient and I dont care how long it takes, just that it will be released DRM free at some point... I'm happy waiting until then or until I can get a key for $2-5 then i'll buy it play it wait for GOG and buy it again :)

fr33kSh0w2012: I hope Epic store goes out of BUSINESS, Because I already have UPLAY, ORIGIN, $TEAM, GOG GALAXY.

I don't want to have to install epic's shit just so I can play Metro exodus.

Just Like how Origin screwed over Steam owners of MAD MAX by giving ALL the DLC's to people who bought Mad Max on origin EVEN THE CONSOLE EXCLUSIVE DLC's
avatar
blotunga: I didn't knew this about Mad Max. I hope at some point WB brings it here without Denuvo.
Yeah They DID all the DLC's on Origin Version

Including:

The DVD Hood Ornament
The Retail Hood Ornament 1
The Retail Hood Ornanent 2
The Ripper
The Road Warrior Relics
The Rockstar
The Rockstar Hood Ornanent 1
The Rockstar Hood Ornament 2
The Rockstar Hood Ornament 3

Pretty Cheap of them we on steam only Got 4 of the 9

They included ALL the DLCs, Even the so called PS4 exclusive hood ornaments pack.

Starkrun: The prior 2 (all versions) had layers of DRM as well.. yet they are here Praise be the THQ Nordic Gods!
Yes. Nordic is certainly doing great work by ensuring the games have a spot here on GOG. The when doesn't fully matter as long as they get here within a partial time frame.

Johnathanamz: [...]

I know you guys are letting Deep Silver and Koch Media be run independently, but doing exclusives like this is Anti-Customer.

[...]

Still a shame.

amok: Still waiting for you to complain about gOg's anti-consumer practices - many exclusive games here not sold anywhere else.
To be fair, while I agree that forced exclusives are generally crap from a customer's point of view, most of GOG's exclusives are games which wouldn't even be officially available for sale, if GOG hadn't put in the effort to bring em back.

On topic: If there's no Steam version at release, this game is going to be "pirated" so hard. Not only is this new distribution platform rather controversial, Metro also strikes me as the type of game to attract many potential software pirates, due to its popularity and genre. I wonder how this is going to work out for Epic, as well as the game's devs/publisher. I suspect it's going to be beneficial for the former, and a long-term loss for the latter.

and then they FORCE your to buy them from here. clearly this is anti-consumerist practice?

(but other games as well, some had timed exclusivity and such, which are not old or "made available by gOg". that Warlock game, or what it was called, for example).

Bottom line, complaining about exclusivity on other stores, but ignoring the same on gOg is having double standards.
These companies... It's like they do so many good PR moves and then cash them in for one giant fuck up, and then expect us to just forget about the fuck up because of the good PR moves.

patrikc: Ha, what a mess.
Plenty of games out there to enjoy.
I disagree. The last FPS with a story on GOG was.. I can't even remember.
I'm honestly really angry at Deep Silver, THQ Nordic, Koch Media whoever made this decision but I'm not going to let 4A Games suffer because of their mistakes which is why I decided to buy this on PS4 and then later on Steam or GOG if it comes here.

That is a fantastic idea.... also its why i still support the console, yes eventually the hardware fails and the titles die but you OWN them until that time... as with GOG we own that data until we can longer install it on our OS's
never mind people metro exodus will be back on steam on the 15/02/2020 but of course still with denovo,i have played far cry primal, far cry 5 and mutant year zero, all without any problems, but assasins creed cooked my old pc forcing me to buy a new one

I will Aquire it somehow HUE HUE HUE DVD version HUE HUE HUE!
I did not realize the situation was this spicy when I first saw this thread. The move to start pre-orders on Steam, then to withraw the option, and move the game to be the Epic Games exclusive, man, funny stuff. Luckily for me, I am not bothered by this. I am waiting for the Gog version, which is not coming any time soon, if at all. Plus, I am yet to beat the previous two titles.
No one cared when Steamworks had exclusives out the ying-yang. This all boils down to people wanting all games to be centralized on one service, and would likely never leave Steam if they didn't have to. That's why Epic is using exclusives, it's the only thing that forces people to leave a comfortable monopoly.

The interesting thing is that in 2004 when I purchased the physical boxed version of the PC version of Half-Life 2 I did not really care that much that it required Steam to be installed.

This Epic Games store video games being sold on it exclusively is way more annoying than what Steam ever did or had.

Gabe Newell said he has a hands off approach, Tim Sweeny does he wants Epic Games to compete against VALVe and Steam in a way more worser way. At least hopefully all of the video games sold on the Epic Games store are only sold for twelve months.
BTW steam page of new Metro has been removed or hidden from users thus flamewar has finally stop there :)
