DavidOrion93: I hope those publishers or devs realize those exclusivity short term cash gains can potentially damage their brand names versus their long term outlooks.

ShadowAngel.207: It doesn't and they know it.
Look what happened: The news came out and tons of people bought the game on the last day at Steam to "show them", when really, all those morons just threw their money at THQ whose CEO and other higher ups sat their loving while watching their bank account grow.

And as we learned from the not so distant past, gamers are morons who might rage for 5 minutes but then immediately forget all about it and turn back into the retarded sheeple who happily eat all shit they get served.
The same happened way back when Ubisoft started their retarded "always online and if your connection gets disabled, the game terminates itself" bullshit. People raged but i think i was one of only a handful who actually boycotted that company.

Or remember the shitstorm when Bethesda tried to monetize mods for Skyrim. So many people said "I will never buy another game from them", thousands raged and what happened? Fallout 4 became a huge success and when Bethesda pulled the same "paid mods" shit, nobody cared anymore. There was no real outrage but sure enough on the Steamforum you see a lot of those "i will never buy another game" people owning the game.

Same will happen in this case. People already threw their money at them, the others will wait until the game gets released on Steam and buy it then and it won't affect any other THQ Nordic product because people will forgive and forget (especially since "it's not the fault of the poor developers and they and their families starve to death if we don't buy their games" is a popular thing nowadays)
A pretty accurate description of gamers, I must say.

patrikc: Ha, what a mess.
Plenty of games out there to enjoy.
But this is Metro... It's a franchise I happen to like. :(

Too bad you didn't love it, that way you could have been a metrosexual and love would have conquered all boundaries.

I'll show myself out.

I understand what you're saying. I enjoyed 2033 and Last Light as well, but that's about it. If this is how they're going to act, then fine. Shame though, I was looking forward to Exodus.

Johnathanamz: [...]

I know you guys are letting Deep Silver and Koch Media be run independently, but doing exclusives like this is Anti-Customer.

[...]

Still a shame.
Still waiting for you to complain about gOg's anti-consumer practices - many exclusive games here not sold anywhere else.

It's pretty much everyone in every industry today. They rage at the next anti-consumer thing for a couple hours, everything calms down, and then what was an issue becomes something of a norm instead.

I agree, nothing lasts everyone will eventually play it.... some games were total crapshows and now there praised as innovators lol.

THQ Nordic has proven who they are and what they support, i trust them and have no problem waiting... there are more then enough games to tide me over... /r/PatientGamers will always win!

moobot83: epic games store isnt gonna be popular, they only made a store cos of the popularity of fortnite and tbh its not gonna be a contender for steam or GOG dnt forget discord has a games store aswell but thats poor also as they dnt add that many titles. ofc i think more people will buy metro o nsteam anyways cos alot of people hate fortnite and dnt want to support epic games in anyway, same as me only launcher id support is battle net and GOG
Although a bit stiltedly written, this has me feeling better. I'm not fond of the Epic store and do have my misgivings about them. This also reminded me about something. There was an interesting statistic where it appears that a good number of Fortnite players aren't Steam users. Which could mean, they aren't there to buy games in general, and this might translate into low-interest in purchasing games. I also remembered some research saying that MMO players usually don't really have time for a lot else, as MMO games may occupy a far larger amount of time and investment in comparison to single-player games. Plus, the market is different between the two as well.

Ganni1987: This situation should be an eye opener to all devs, don't lock your customers to just 1 store. Forcing them to try and buy from somewhere they don't like may backfire.
It's something that worked very well for Steam.
This is what happens when companies forget there is a bunch of angry hackermen waiting for their Denuvo laced release.
I hope Epic store goes out of BUSINESS, Because I already have UPLAY, ORIGIN, $TEAM, GOG GALAXY.

I don't want to have to install epic's shit just so I can play Metro exodus.

Just Like how Origin screwed over Steam owners of MAD MAX by giving ALL the DLC's to people who bought Mad Max on origin EVEN THE CONSOLE EXCLUSIVE DLC's

I didn't knew this about Mad Max. I hope at some point WB brings it here without Denuvo.

The prior 2 (all versions) had layers of DRM as well.. yet they are here Praise be the THQ Nordic Gods!

Metro series was not released on Gog at the same time it was released on Steam. With Denuvo-infected games Gog release usually comes out a year or two after the Steam release. This might be the case with Metro - Exodus as well.
