What's that coming over the hill?

Iron Harvest is coming soon, DRM-free to GOG.com.
The Great War is over but the giant mechs that took part in it are still roaming the streets of the three dominant European empires. Now a new threat is working secretly to try and spark another conflict, which could throw the continent into chaos. Manage your squads of heroes, soldiers, and badass mechs in sandbox levels full of dynamic RTS objectives that can be tackled in more ways that one.

Check out the game's Kickstarter campaign here.

Matruchus: King Art Games did a survey (with 15.000 people) about what kind of an RTS game people would like to have and the results are very interesting. Its the basis of Iron Harvest game.

I attached a picture of what the game is based on.

So if you guys want to check the whole survey you can do that here: https://kingart-games.com/article/20-iron-harvest-rts-survey-results

Its really an interesting read and shows how wrong RTS development was in the last few years turning to MOBA style gameplay.

Link to Iron Harvest website (requested to link by devs on the survey page): http://www.iron-harvest.com/
Very interesting results

Love the stuff about co-op and physical media.

Matruchus: Actually they dont really need to make those 850.000 for the skirmish and multiplayer cause if that doesnt work out they will do that part through publisher funding but they would love to do it themselves free of any restraints from the publishers.

Nice! Thanks for pointing that out - I hadn't read those bits yet. Here's hoping interest is high enough to meet the stretch goals.
GOG.com: Iron Harvest is coming soon
KING Art Games at Kickstarter: Estimated delivery December 2019

LOL @ GOG.com

Anyway, I love the artwork of Jakub Różalski and I would be very interested in this game.
I will look into it again if they are going to release it on Linux as well.
That's an important clarification. Whether it'll run should become apparent at launch, which makes no difference to me since I won't be pre-ordering it anyway.
Nice, 10k away from being funded & still 30d to go. Hope they wont fall victim to Kickstart over-success like "The Mandate" did.

If you mean feature creep or kickstarter-goals creep, i think we're good. From the campaign page: "We won’t add new features to the base game, even if the Kickstarter is very successful. It is very dangerous to make a game bigger and bigger, just because you can. Instead, we’ll release the base game as planned and add a free mini DLC campaign later on. Think “Company of Heroes - Tiger Ace”."
just backed. Gone for the collectors edition
Great news. The game has been funden. Now hopefully the game makes it to higher tiers so that they wont need a publisher at the end.
This one look really intersting, a pitty that good has not added the indev preorder or some other way to support them.

I can't use kickstarter and think they take to much for themselves...that leaves me with backing it directly and i made bad exepeiences with that.

Mainly the result of such creep like never releasing a game and seeing another backer digging up the file for bankruptcy and the CEO now being some project lead on Funcom. To go full douche I next await Funcom announce an never had seen before SciFi game called Not The Mandate but being kind of the same.

Its good that they have added this; I prefer the devs using overfunds for some massive party with hookers while releasing a game instead of... well mandating it.

Reglisse: Progressive people use Windows 10?
Ha ha ha...

Progressive people use Linux!
*sorry cannot resist*

i7 7700K with 32 Go ram and Nvidia GTX 1080 TI...my main OS is Kubuntu and I keep Windows 7 for some DX11 games.
I own a Windows 10 for work and It's a piece of crap T_T

In my case...It's too late...
Good Luck to them but in 2020 I'm going to be a Linux User Only ^__^
Hah hah, was going to make a similar post. I'll keep using Windows 7 as long as I can, with Linux on the side, and then eventually switch to open-source OS alternatives entirely. Anything that is being advertised as "Windows 10 exclusive" becomes completely irrelevant to me.

"Windows 10 is for progressive people" ... lel

Fortuk: I've had my eye on this for a while due to its fantastic aesthetic; that's a rare thing to see in an RTS. Having confirmation far ahead of release like this that it'll be coming to GOG is convenient and very welcome.

Zoidberg: They're promoting a videogame noone heard of that has a POLISH artist (and the team ay be too)...

I'm personally not "fine" with this...
avatar
Fortuk: It's a German team who've released several games here before -The Book of Unwritten Tales games, which are quite good. Having a Polish artist seems pretty irrelevant to me.
It still appears as making advertisement to me.

They'll have to get a publisher involved one way or another, the $1.5m they're asking for to reach all the stretch goals is nowhere near enough to cover all development costs. I think I saw them mentioning at least $5m as a reasonable budget for a project like Iron Harvest.

THQNordic would seem like a very good choice, not only since KINGArt has worked with them before, but also for THQNordic not coming across as the EAvul publisher constantly breathing down developers' necks and having a negative influence on the direction.

Yeah, you are right they will get a publisher but on their own terms cause they will by that point have 2.5 millions self invested (if they get 1.500.000 through kickstarter) so the other half would come from a publisher. Still I hope they get those 1.5 million together. Its quite possible to achieve since the kickstarter already reached 520.000$ in less then three days.

Amen to that.

I gotta say, in between everything (and mostly based on the crap Microsoft has been pulling lately), it really looks like 2018 might be the year of the Linux.

Have no intention of moving beyond Windows 7 (and even this is already running without security updates after Microsoft decided to bundle everything together so people can't avoid telemetry "updates").

Screw it, I'd rather risk getting hacked than feed another data-miner.
