What's that coming over the hill?

Iron Harvest is coming soon, DRM-free to GOG.com.
The Great War is over but the giant mechs that took part in it are still roaming the streets of the three dominant European empires. Now a new threat is working secretly to try and spark another conflict, which could throw the continent into chaos. Manage your squads of heroes, soldiers, and badass mechs in sandbox levels full of dynamic RTS objectives that can be tackled in more ways that one.

Check out the game's Kickstarter campaign here.
It's always the same people whining and complaining. I think they need a new hobby, because they're obviously not enjoying being here.

xKeiro: I think I can say about the game by looking at the screenshots: I never been so disappointed in a game's genre before, the aesthetics are so good it's a waste on an RTS, just imagine facing those awesome mechs first person/third person.
I agree. RTS seems out of fashion lately. I have been interested in turn-based tactics (TBT) and real-time tactics (RTT) more than RTS, but FPS and nearly any other genre would be much more interesting than RTS.

I've had my eye on this for a while due to its fantastic aesthetic; that's a rare thing to see in an RTS. Having confirmation far ahead of release like this that it'll be coming to GOG is convenient and very welcome.

Zoidberg: They're promoting a videogame noone heard of that has a POLISH artist (and the team ay be too)...

I'm personally not "fine" with this...
It's a German team who've released several games here before -The Book of Unwritten Tales games, which are quite good. Having a Polish artist seems pretty irrelevant to me.

Bigs: So at the very least wait until the Kickstarter is over and the game is at least funded?
And I'd hardly get any hype up for Dec 2019 as soon... but then again GOG know Soon™...

This is not deserving of an official newspost IMO...

mechmouse: Why not.
There will already be a Steam page set up.
This way GoG has somewhere for GoG related traffic to go.

Steam gets a lot of pre-release custom and interest and people that would prefer GoG often don't know about gog release until much later.
Two corrections

1) There is not any steam page for this game yet
2) steam do not put the "coming soon" games of this type on front page / as news / promotes them until it is released (either full release or early access) or when it can be preordered. It is up to devs to 're-direct' / provide links to the steam page from elsewhere. (I have never seen any)

So while I do not have any problems with gOg doing this, that's how it works on steam
I like KS... but to take a game and advertise it before it's officially funded? Either the developers have alternate funding, a publisher, and are going to complete it regardless (and if that's the case, it begs the question, why KS except greed then?) or GOG has actually taken the piss. Not sure which to believe at this point. I'll watch this, but I generally hate RTS.

1) Odd there's no Steam page, but normally Steam does get a presence before GoG.

2) While Steam doesn't do coming soon, the entire industry is geared up and biased (whether intentional) towards Steam, GoG needs to do more to counter this.

You people realize that they are not selling an unfinished game, but merely announced that it will come here? So far there is only a "notify me" button. Guess it is part of the deal, that GOG gets the game and does some promotion for it already.
Looks nice, but the "alt" in their alt-history is fucking painful. I mean, they have a popular revolt the tsar brewing in Russia, but their Russia is already commie. The chick on the right here is
- a spy
- for the tsar.
Seriously.
OK, the art looks amazing. But there isn't any game behind it yet. So how can this pass the GOG curation, when GOG rejects many solid games? Who from KING Art slept with whom from GOG do get this kind of promotion here?

Also, for me personally, as pretty as it looks, it is still real time. So not for me. I wish they would make it turn based instead, if they succeed making it at all.

That's why I don't see an issue with this. Knowing what games are coming to GOG is always helpful and there's no pre-order associated with it, so no-one is getting tricked into buying an incomplete product.
Why are proper WW1 RTS games so non-existant? There was Entente but that's about it. I want to send thousands of troops charging at trench lines :(

Looks interesting, but sadly to get mixed reviews on Steam you need to have a pretty awful game seeing how reviews over there are always skewed towards the positive (ie, those who bought the game).

that's not how I see it. some of the games I had most fun with had mixed reviews.
Looks a lot and seems to play like Company of Heroes. Consider me interested.

This thread merely provides more evidence that people look very hard for things to complain about.

It's an announcement. How can an announcement be some horrid moral or ethical failing?

On the flip side, when games come later to GoG than they do to Steam without a previous announcement, all we hear is "I wish I'd known sooner that this was coming to GoG. Already purchased on Steam."

Seems GoG can't win.
