It would be really awesome if it was Activision Blizzard, LucasArt and EA !
I'd like to see all titles from Ultima series here on GOG (including underworld and world of adventures), altough ID would be a nice adding to their catalogue...
It's EA or ID for me... =P

Planescape Torment? :3
I keep flipping back and forth between EA and ActiBlizz.
"Unexcelled" is simply too good a synonyme for "Ultima", and "characters" could very well refer to E and A.
Then again there is that TROIKA acronym which points strongly to ActiBlizz.
Anyway, I'm pretty convinced now it's one of these two possibilities and nothing else.
if it's sam and max they can stop the countdown as far as I'm concerned. Used to be very interested in the title until i played the episodes. Unless the episodes are indeed nothing compared to the original, I think it's horrible... (my opinion...)
But EA should be cool. Gives people the opportunity to play some classics that a lot of people missed, Undying comes to mind

Don't forget that in Ultima, the Guardian is literally the evil half of the Avatar. They're yin and yang to each other--- hence "two characters that complement each other."
Troika would be an awesome addition. 3 cult RPG's...Arcanum, Vampire: Bloodlines and Temple of Elemental Evil.
Someone here compared Arcanum to Lionheart.... Say what??? They are far apart in quality.
IMHO:
Best case scenario:
EA (Dungeon Keeper, Magic Carpet, Populous, C&C, System Shock, Ultima)
Microsoft (Age of Empires, Mechwarrior, Rise of Nations, Fable, Crimson Skies) ,
Black Isle/Bioware games: Baldur's Gate, Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale
...any of those three would give the site a super boost unlike anything they've done before, simply because none of these are available as direct downloads on any usable site!
Pretty good scenario akshully:
Troika
Worst case scenario:
Lucasarts...don't get me wrong...I love old school Lucasarts more than anything. However all the stuff they are willing to release is already available very cheap on Steam. Doesn't really give the site a boost like the other three (EA, Microsoft, Black Isle). Same goes for Activison, Blizzard etc.
My guess and dream:
EA

I strongly suspect that I would lose control of at least 3 eliminatory functions spontaneously if it's EA...
I think I'd buy anything offered by Origin, Bullfrog, or Sierra.
Why do people still think that it is simply a game? Haven't we already established that it cannot possibly be just a single game and it must be a new publisher deal?
- The countdown runs out on Thursday, which is the day of the week GOG always announces new publisher deals.
- No single game or series of games warrants this kind of attention with a countdown and the like, even if it is one of the most requested ones. More so if it is not one of the most requested ones (I'm looking at you Ultima series).
- GOG staff have already said this will be the biggest announcement in the history of GOG, rivaling the announcement of the site going public, but in a different category from that. How can any single game or series of games be that?
- Before Christmas, GOG said they would be announcing one of the "top three" publishers would be joining GOG in January. January is almost over folks, they have to announce it this week if they are going to stick to that schedule.
- None of the clues provided can conclusively point to a single game, but they can point to games and developers who are associated with a single publisher.
Whatever the announcement ends up being, you can be sure that some kind of game release will be involved, but that game, whatever it may be, is secondary to what the core of the announcement is: a new publisher is coming to GOG and it is a really, really big publisher. That means it has to be EA, ActiBlizz, Atari (has anyone mentioned that CDP, GOG's parent, already has a working relationship with Atari?), Squee, LucasArts or someone else as big as that (did I leave anyone out?).

The clues, however, appear to be hints to either the first game or first few games (depending on interpretation) that will be released as part of the presumed new publisher deal. Thus the guesses about game titles point to the publisher.

uulav: SSI catalog coming to gog.

We already could have SSI here (Ubisoft).
I think every clue is a red herring and in fact GOG have bought the Midway/Williams arcade rights and we will see games like Mortal Kombat, Super Off Road and San Fransisco Rush.
Everything I have just said is a total lie.
