Which would include the rights for SMAC. Interesting. I wonder if that makes it potentially easier or harder for GOG to get his games.
Still, I doubt even Sid Meier alone would justify a big countdown like this.

Actually I think he would, he's very popular. But since he keeps reenvisioning his own games I don't see many people wanting to go back and play the old ones.

EndlessWaves: Oh come on, shooters like MDK or Giants: Citizen Kabuto won't hesitate to make you replay half an hour of gameplay because you made a single mistake, strategy game controls are far clunkier than any modern one and as for the adventure games...
So which games in the list are unexcelled and which show their age?

You can save whenever you want in MDK so if you have to replay 30 minutes it's probably your fault. If anything it's more forgiving than a game with checkpoints. I'd also argue that many of the adventure games on here haven't been topped by anything modern (yes I know nobody makes adventure games anymore but it still counts).
