Wonder why there's no Steam keys for Sims 3?
As a heads up, games that were released before Origin was launched can be run without needing to start up Origin (Dead Space, Mirror's Edge, etc)

I have Mass Effect and Burnout Paradise on Origin but they don't need Origin to run, so they are DRM free they just need Origin for the download.

I was wondering that myself.

keeveek: Anyone else having this problem? -.-

SimonG: Am I missing something, or is this selling even faster than the THQ bundle?

Seriously, 250 000 units sold in what? 3 hours?
avatar
keeveek: That's probably everyone hates EA!
I've managed to get further than that. I've been able to insert my key, and then I apparently have to select a language for the game, only I can't click on anything, and hitting next causes me to go back.

Valve and EA got in a bit of a tiff over expansions over Steam, and as a result EA pulled out from further games on Steam.

Sims 3 has loads of expansions, and EA wants you to buy them....

As far as Burnout Paradise (dunno about Mass Effect), you are wrong. On Origin, it uses both the Origin client, as well as SecuROM. Launching BurnoutParadise.exe just brings-up the Origin client and forces me to launch it from within it, and I've had to deal with SecuROM problems before (this was about a month ago; details and [url=http://answers.ea.com/t5/Other-EA-Games/Burnout-Paradise/m-p/1323954#M4599]here).

With that said, the Steam version of Burnout Paradise is, thankfully, SecuROM-free. It only has Steamworks DRM. The only thing the Origin version of BP has over the Steam version is cloud-sync for its saved games.

Very good bundle. Already have half the games but it's still worth it for the rest. Lucky me, I only own one Dead Space game and that's the second game, so yey for complete collection.
I do wonder what the next week bonus will be. Obviously I'm hoping for Crysis 3 and Mass Effect 3 (no way in hell :))). Maybe it will be that Dragon Age package that has been in sales a ton of times.

Really? I started Burnout without Origin active and it worked. I have been playing Mass Effect downloaded from Origin without Origin active for the past week and it has worked.

Have you tried it from within the client? I just redeemed my code (only 1 I didn't have) less than 5 minutes ago.

Has this happened to anyone else?

They are, indeed, having issues with redeem-code functionality. They posted an EA Help entry about it today:
Currently we're aware that some players are unable to redeem their game codes in Origin, while others are just experiencing an up to 30 minute delay in redeeming their code. We are running a charity promotion with Humble Bundle which has received an extremely high response. The amount of redemption attempts has put a huge strain on the servers at the moment.

We're working to correct this as soon as possible. In the meantime, please hang on to your codes and stay tuned for updates. Thanks for your patience!
Bought it for Dead Space. I was waiting for it to go 75% off during the summer sale but it didn't happen.
