Lol mate a square box full of square boxes isnt exactly ground breaking is it,it was functional at best,i DO agree the inv in tw2 isnt great either not enough info some things in the same category have weight and others dont ETC.But having groups to select is much better than small boxes imho.The fact that you cant read a book or scroll and then dump it is a odd design choice though.

I honestly don't believe. Why I don't believe? Because I just see this before.
If they release a patch correction non technical problems the people will complain. The change the UI and them one day a lot of people start to play a game they already put a lot of hours and now, they don't know more how to do. And this make the original complainers happy? No because they already merry with the "console port" idea. The most sad? If the game sing in sells because of this, the only escape to bankruptcy is launch the games on the consoles. And this make the original complainers happy? Yes, because they can say they are right.

Yeah, well for me they are little. If you get annoyed by things like that it's your problem. you will never be able to fully enjoy games if you keep thinking that way. I'm just saying I don't let these things bother because. today, most games are like that, and if I let myself be bothered by that I will never enjoy anything.

True. The game needs better inventory management. A "Junk" section to separate them from the rest would be nice. It's a pain scrolling All items to sell heavy junk!

Also a savegame management. I like giving titles to my saves and controlling exactly how many saves I have.

I miss the Sword enhancing animation for the oils and those crypts that gave me the shivers in TW1. Real goosebumps!

Agreed on the junk inventory sort, as well as the decrease in font size as well as the size of your current selection, it it slightly too large and simply doesn't make full use of the screen space, expanding it further towards the edges of the screen would help immensely.

Also adding an in menu switch to other menus, like in TW1 would be great. Having to exit one menu back to the game just to enter another menu is silly, I would rather be able to simply click a button on the current screen to switch from say my journal to my inventory.

Yeah, c'mon... even Dragon Age 2 has working hotkeys to navigate the menus, char screen, inventory, abilities, etc.. hehe

probably there's barely anything i can add to this whole discussion, what hasn't been said yet. nonetheless i feel propelled to do so. i'm gaming (alot) since mid/end of the eighties and suddenly again i have this indescribable feeling of beeing sucked in to something of a higher order, like in these innocent childhood-days of old. transcending the borders of my physical existence and actually _living_ in another world. something i've missed for quite a while yet, at least regarding videogames that is. CDPR, thanks for this! really, i'm loving it, despite all the flaws in the actual version, of which i'm sure you will take care of once the dust has settled.

consolification? sure, but i don't care. i want my mind to wander in strange worlds beyond reality, just escape for a few hours in the silence of the night to rise again the next day with a big grin on my face, thinking of good old zoltan, yelling "kier-keee-gaaaard!" in the middle of the forest, LOL.

this is a superbly crafted work of rich imagination, cunning poetry and clever artistry, second to none in my book atm. period.

if only the combat/signcasting with mouse & keyboard would flow a bit better.

I believe "ATM" is the most appropiate acronym for the glory being heaped upon this INDIE developer!! Keep up the good work I hope you turn a nice tidy profit so you can develop a game in the spirit of the PC environment.. Perhaps next project will have a PC INTERFACE AND a console interface with more RPG embellishment!!

This is a thread that is a good read. All game companies should have a thread like this!

Don't get me wrong, I think The Witcher 2 is a solid 9.1 that'll put it up there with most of the great games of the past year. It also slaughters any RPG that has come out in the last 3 years or so too.

But within a couple of mins of starting, when you've chosen 1024x768 and medium to start of with to see how the framerate is, and you see that minuscule text, you know that text has been designed to be looked at on a large TV screen, ala console. So straight away, with that tiny text, this isn't a PC only game to me. It is a multiformat game that came out on PC first. And seeing that tiny text absolutely convinces me a console version will be out in less than 4 months and will look and play the same as the console design is already in this so-called "PC only" game.

Can I totally blame a small company for doing this, in order to lower development costs and to get a console version out to sell more copies and garner more income? No I cannot really, but what I CAN complain about bitterly is being told over and over that TW2 was being written solely for PC, with no changes at all or any considerations for possible console conversions. And I now know that to be untrue by seeing the game.

First of all, I don't think anyone is saying the game sucks, or that it's been ruined, etc.... at least not me.

The objection is simply that many features common to PC user interfaces have been removed or modified in favor of mechanics suitable for consoles, therefore the PC player is stuck with an inferior, clunky user interface. which has been "optimized" for a game pad and the mechanics of a console, with the idea of releasing the game for console, which to a PC player means the user interface has been crippled, as the user interface doesn't take full advantage of the mouse and keyboard, which are the controllers used overwhelmingly by the PC gamers, and the usual convenience features, like changing video and game settings on the fly, have been removed.

It's kind of like going to your favorite restaurant and ordering your favorite food, but this time, you only get half a portion, and the waitress tells you "that's because we are going to start serving people with stomach staples pretty soon and they can't eat big portions". It is still your favorite food, but when you leave the restaurant, you are still going to be hungry.

How the heck can any company releasing a PC game these days not allow for customization on the keyboard entirely?
CD Projekt got this right completely w/ The Witcher 1.

Also - didn't we all learn from PC versions of Dead Space 1 and 2 fiasco?
If I wanna put movement keys on Cursors keys b/c I am left-handed, I should be able to.
Same goes for me also should be allowed to use NumPad and Delete Key for key remapping, as well.

Also - how come the X360 Start-Button Main Menu is different from the PC Escape Key's Main Menu?
Would it not have been easier to make them LOOK....exactly the same (like the 360 Menu)?
