Cavenagh: [edit] that pic includes a hash brown [some foreign muck]
Last time I was in England, my plate had some hash brown on it. I inquired about the absence of black pudding and was told it was rather an Irish/Scottish thing. Can you confirm that?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_pudding

I'd say it's a british thing, always had it as a kid [irish parents], so did my friends [English and Scottish parents]

my dad used to bring some very nice white pudding [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_pudding ] back from ireland on his trips [pub crawls]

not to everyones liking, but I like it.

Yeah, baked beans for breakfast. That was strange to see. I don't like beans anyway, but it's not a food I consider to be a breakfast item.

I might add to this list "ordering at a pub". That was a different experience, too. Not "bad" just different.

I don't think too many people would have beans for breakfast here really - though they would have them alongside a fry up at another time of day.

Depends on how bad the hangover is as well.

True baked beans are a recent thing, I remember breakfast being bacon, sausage, sunny side up eggs, fried tomatoes, black pudding. all. drenched in worcester sauce.

I'm hungry now.

PS a full english is also know as 'Heart attack food'

Interesting, I threw up a little.

catpower1980: aaahhh this is one thing I cherished during my one-week stay in London. Nothing like a good, big and warm breakfast to start the day :)
avatar
markrichardb: Did you get a chance to have a Sunday roast dinner too?
It was 20 years ago so I don't remember all the details :) But as it was in a hotel were the breakfast were "standardized", I highly doubt they made something different on Sunday.

BTW, what are the dishes in a sunday roast dinner, the name alone makes me hungry now.... ^o^

I'd rather eat some congolese "delicacies" by the glorious warlo... I mean CHEF Mobutu! :D
Yup, you know you're screwed when "your" supreme leader eat his opponents ;(
Sorry if this appears twice, forums appear to be messing up more than normal.

Smannesman: I've always found the 'full English breakfast' kind of odd.
Whats odd about it? Sausages! "Continental" is a slice of cheese on bread with some fruit, what are we living in biblical times? The Germans do it right, offer both. Sausages dipped in Weissbeer for breaky, winner!

catpower1980: it's a pity we continentals "don't have time" in the morning to prepare all this stuff
Too busy rushing to get out into the traffic jams?

Have you ever had these?
