Elaborigen: Two pin round versions used in the rest of europe also have connection to earth, just not through an extra pin. They normally have 2 metal parts at both sides of the circle. There are some 2 pin versions that are not round and don't get to touch the earth part of the plug (e.g. mobile chargers), but then the equivalent ones in the UK have a plastic 3rd pin (it's actually needed to open the holes for the other 2 pins).
Interesting, I didn't know that.

Who knows why we have plugs like that then...

catpower1980: This morning while watching my youtube feed, there was an old clip from Top Gear I hadn't seen and well, I got quite dubious when I saw this "painted double mini roundabout".... If i had come over this IRL I would be like "WTF???!!" and just go across in a straight line :o)

Besides as UK'ers don't do things like the rest of the world, which habits do you find odd in their country/people?

PS: no UK bashing please ^o^

Iain: You have the whole Tea drinking thing which to be honest isn't as popular as it used to be, you also have the Fish & Chips thing but to be honest the traditional style Chippies are a dying breed, there is one in the next town over that just does the tradiotional stuff associated but most now do a full compliment of pizza and kebab etc with traditional chip shop stuff an afterthought.
Aye, many traditional chippies have been replaced by kebab houses. Visiting the chip shop is deeply rooted in my fond childhood memories. Fortunately there’s a good one in my area.

At Teeside you have the Barnacles resteraunt, it also has take out and they were always good, there is a little one that used to be a house on a corner up at Stanley in County Durham but they aren't open to late and its a bit of a trek from Chester Le Street to there just for proper fish & chips.

There are a few others but they sold ooout doing the whole pizza shop thing now and the quality went downhill on their original stuff
chips with mushy peas and pepper, and it tastes actually quite good! : )

Its not the wrong side, its the left side. We live in a fair an open society (/sarcasm) where all should be allowed to drive on whichever side of the road they choose.

We keep to the left so we can defend ourselves with our right sword arm while riding.

This goes back to the days of jousting, the champion was always on the left, most people are right handed, so a disavantage to a right handed lancer on the right. [unless he was left handed] ^^

I'm nearly drunk...

I've always found the 'full English breakfast' kind of odd.

aaahhh this is one thing I cherished during my one-week stay in London. Nothing like a good, big and warm breakfast to start the day :)

It's a pity we continentals "don't have time" in the morning to prepare all this stuff

Did you get a chance to have a Sunday roast dinner too? I always recommend that and the full English breakfast for a taste of Britain.
