I would love to buy this here as I got the previous 2 games here, but getting it for 330% Steam price is just not an enticing proposal, DRM be damned.

BlackMageJ: So did this end up being a 'remake' or a 'reimagining'? IIRC, they originally pitched it as "System Shock 1, but pretty and with good controls", before shifting direction and talking about building a new game around the same premise.
They made a little demo that was like the first level of System Shock 1 to advertise their kickstarter. Then they got a decent amount of money so they decided to switch from Unity to Unreal and remake the game to today's image. But that wasn't met with a good response and entitled backers started raging and demanded a 1:1 copy made in Unity. So the devs switched back to Unity and started doing a dull 1:1 copy that doesn't even make sense because the blocky maze-like architecture of the levels wasn't there because of some artistic choice but because of hardware limitations of 1994.

I'm already expecting the backers the whine about how there's nothing new in the game and how the old mechanics transfered to unity seem sluggish to them lol :D

bluethief: This game has different prices on my region on all 3 stores:

GOG: 44,89 €
Steam: 37,99 €
EGS: 35,99 €

Usually, games here have the same price across all stores.
Maybe it's a bug? It shows 37,99 € for me.

Anyway... I'm curious about the reviews. I enjoyed the original game, but never finished it (no idea why). SS2 was a better game, for me.

Hefty price tag for a remake of a 25 year old game....

I don't have a price on EGS but the same difference for GOG/Steam.

I'll gladly steer away from this one.

Not preordering. I'll wait for R&R (Release and Reviews)... and maybe a later discount.

The fact that they used Unity for making the game makes me a bit skeptical about its performance/optimization...

I haven't really followed that drama. IMO, making games shouldn't be a "democracy". But in the case of a publicly funded one... they should at least go with what was originally promised.
I liked the original demo.

The price is fine since you get two games. One completely new (SS Remake) and one remastered (SS2).

I'm happy to see this is alive and getting closer to a full release. Fingers crossed they are able to make the summer 2021 release happen.

I do believe waiting for the release and reviews is the smartest choice with this one.

Oh! I thought this remake was simply dead.
Good news, but.. we'll see how it turns out.

As fan of Part 2 I will buy this on release after seeing a few reviews.

I'm very excited, and I want to play it!!!

But preorder... No. The last game I have ever preordered was Cyperpunk. Because it was one of the last companies I respected to do right and had trust in.

That was the last time.

Dear devs, release a good and playable game, and you will have my money within two to three days after release, after there are no horrible news about bugs and plotstoppers and glitches. And I mean "horrible", a game may have a few bugs when released, it's unavoidable. But nothing game breaking like Cyberpunk.

I pray this game will work and will be good!!
What a dud of a week filled primarily with pre-orders/coming-soon announcements.

That price tag... Definitely waiting on reviews for this one. Not even sure how much interest I have in it. *shrug*

It's not fine. It's a AAA-ish pricetag for a game that looks anything but. Indie games that cost a fraction of that price (see Outlast or Hellblade) blow this one out of the water in terms of production value.

And as for the supposed "Enhanced Edition" of Shock 2: The version that's currently sold is as remastered as anyone needs it. The "Enhanced Edition" will likely be a cash grab: The exact same thing with a bunch of free mods slapped on top (and maybe ported to the Kex engine, so Night Dive can release the thing on consoles).

I never thought the prospect of a new System Shock game would leave me so utterly unenthusiastic.
