mironator: Actually I'm not the one making a drama out of it. I just find it perfecty normal to expect a game being playable on release day. After all the game is promoted getting released on the 17th of october. I'm just amazed that people nowadays find it perfectly fine not being able to. This is not normal.
But all things being equal and unless there's (quite literally, given that it's downloadable at 11 o'clock) an 11th hour delay, the game will be playable on release day. When 11pm CEST hits it'll be between 1pm and 5pm at any given location in the United States or Canada. Conversely, if the game had been released at 12pm CEST, Australians and New Zealanders would still have had to wait until the following day.

In all seriousness though, it's about having a sense of proportion. If a pre-ordered game was weeks or even months late (*cough* Ys VIII) you'd have reason to complain. I've just got my PS4 physical copy of Raiden 5 several months late and not much more than a vaguely worded apology from Play Asia. But one day's delay, with an entertainment product delivered straight to your home no less, is not a sign of the coming apocalypse. I'm sure people can find other things to do.

People have become so fixated on obsessing over what they're entitled to in the "literal" sense that they've lost all sense of realism and proportion.
Well... We're Waiting...
It is release day and there is no info whatsoever. It is still few hours till end of 17th. We just have to live in this informational void. It is not like there is some kind of mystical network that everybody are magically connected to so publisher could inform their clients about any setbacks in relesing product on promised day... ;)
Am i the only one in this thread who still have a job ? :p
Yeah, it's not the end of the world, but GOG could still do a better job at communicating the estimated release time. They admitted they've been a little lax on communication and want to improve, and this is one example of where they could do better.

pestizzide: A friend of mine already got his PHYSICAL copy and can't play until 7 p.m. bcz of the steam release time... :D:D

_ChaosFox_: You think that's bad? I've already got my PS4 physical copy in this morning from Amazon and I can't play it until 9pm.

That's not because of any arbitrary DRM locks though. I have to work until 7pm, then I have to feed and take my daughter to bed, then I'd like to spend a bit of time with the wife.
Digital version on XB1 is already being played and unlocked last night at midnight EST. Don't understand why digital PC versions are being held back.

Yeah. That's... just plain not how PS4 retail games are supposed to work according to all the fuzz they made about offline use when it hit the market. :|

Really?

Do you require more than that huge countdown timer on the websites Elex-library card currently saying:

THIS GAME WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR FULL DOWNLOAD ON OCT 17, 2017
ONLY 01 : 07 : 20 LEFT

Well, granted, you only see this timer when you preordered the game and it's in your library.

And, really, Steam just tells me in "approximately 1 hour".

I did my two hours this morning. I'm at the library now getting ready to play something.

*sigh* The life of being medically retired.

(To explain, on my off days, I still spending about 2 hours doing the paperwork and the accounting, checking on support tickets, the support forums, security logs, etc. Most everything is setup to get dropped into my email inbox so it;s fairly easy to check on things.)

So... yeah. If you didn't preorder it but are wondering when it will be able to be purchased and DLed... yeah, it would be a good thing to actually have that info on the store page.

*edit* On a side note: this game is actually in my library, as it's one that GOG gave me in a bundle when the 6 of us community members went to Warsaw, but there's no countdown on the game card in my library.

GET BACK TO WORK RIGHT NOW !!!! :)
Steam is based on the west coast in the US (PST). The main reason for a 10AM PST release is that if something goes wrong on Steam's end you have employees there to handle it. There have been midnight releases in the US but AFAIK Steam charges extra for it if you want staff on hand to handle any issues.

GoG has done midnight releases PST but I don't know if they charge extra as well.
