Coelocanth: The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert
No. No no no no. That movie is so awesome, along with Strictly Ballroom. Both are excellent Australian flicks.
My favourite 'bad' movies have already been mentioned (Last Dragon, Popeye, Buckaroo Banzai) but I can't bring myself to think of them as 'bad' because I love them so damned much!

Other films that I've enjoyed and other people have said were awful, though, include such gems as Mystery Men, Give My Regards to Broadstreet and Josie and the Pussycats.

Would Kung Pow: Enter the Fist count? That film knows exactly what it is, though....

Fever_Discordia: Oh, Rocky Horror Show, Zardos and Barberella of course!
I'm amazed nobody mentioned those before. Of course, when mentioning Zardoz, you also have to mention Sword of the Valiant.

hedwards: This is a tough one. Buckaroo Bonzai?

HereForTheBeer: That's the first thing that came to mind as I read the thread title.

My second vote goes to Repo Man. Yes, I know: cult classic blah blah blah. It's still a bad movie. But it's a great bad movie.
Honestly, I did kind of like Buckaroo Bonzai, but objectively and in pretty much all other ways it was a really bad movie.

Didn't see Repo Man, but if it's the movie I'm thinking about, I never felt the need to watch it.

Coelocanth: Ice Pirates
Oh yeah!!!!

And a movie called Water from 1985/6, which I haven't seen in years:

Aha! Here, this music video sums up the whole thing (and no joke, this performance by Clapton, Starr, et al. was part of the movie):

I have a soft spot for the original (black & white super low budget) Little Shop of Horrors. Yes, it is "bad", but it is bad in a good way.

xenxander: Krull

you see the fantasy sorcery genera of movies was lackluster for a long time. It still is, in most respects (LotR and The Hobbit notwithstanding).

As a kid, I sued to love watching Krull, because I was the type of kid who craved fantasy, might and magic type of movies and media.
Yeah, I felt the same way about Krull...I liked it, but the fantasy genre was so lacking during that time I would've like just about anything.

mighty.ape.acct: How can anyone call Flash Gordon a bad film? It is AWESOME!!!
Movies can be bad and awesome at the same time. See: most of my list.

mighty.ape.acct: Battlefield Earth? Hmmm........ Now that's a turd :D
Yes, but, but... Terl! He's the dumbest villain of all time! He is dumber than most villains who have been deliberately written to be dumb for comedic purposes!

"Now Man-Animal will go to seek his favourite food!"

Oh God, I'm laughing just thinking about him...
nvm

Repo Man

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087995/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

is not to be confused with Repo Men

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1053424/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

Or even Repo! The Genetic Opera

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0963194/?ref_=fn_al_tt_5

I have not seen any of these 3 movies, however, so I cannot comment on their quality!

*edit*
OMG it seems that the 1984 one got a sequel in 2009 - Repo Chick - also by Alex Cox!

Fever_Discordia: The Princess Bride! LOL funny but still pretty cool movie! (could have maybe done without the Fred Savage / Peter Falk real world parts though)
The Princess Bride is not a bad movie! It is a cult-movie, that is something completely different!

Krull is cool too, even it I always wondered how the hero manages to keep all his fingers with this five-bladed 'sword' of his!
Since I haven't seen it listed here, I'll volunteer Clive Barker's Nightbreed. It was a hamfisted mess, with bad acting, nonsensical plot twists, and preachy social commentary. The great David Cronenberg amusingly plays a psychopathic psychiatrist who likes to don a scarecrow mask while killing misfits and slobs.

I love this film, but it is awful and unlike many of the other flicks listed (which were made to be cult and b-films) Nightbreed was meant to be great.

Barker claimed the studio ruined his movie, re-edited it, and then "lost" his original version.

There is hope because the "lost" footage has recently been found and re-inserted into Nightbreed which is currently doing the festival circuit. It is supposed to be released on DVD & Blu-ray sometime in October. I can't wait.

dracomage1996: I......Is that Cameron Diaz?
avatar
MaridAudran: Yeah, early in her career. She had yet to reach mega-mainstream stardom so was doing smaller roles in indie flicks then.
But she was in the mask a whole year before "the last supper" and I don't think that was an indie film.

I love Kung-pow. But then again, it is a parody movie. And the "bad" parody movies are ones I don't think anybody has anywhere near any list of favorite films of any kind. While I will count it, in my opinion, its one of my favorite parody movies of all time, second to be more precise. First is space balls.

I love The Princess Bride but, with that whole 'camping up the cheeseyness of the clichés for laughs' schtick (In-con-SIEVE-able, My Name is Inigo Montoya, You killed my father, prepare to die etc.) it's sailing pretty damn close to the bad movie / cult movie wind if you think about it, it's just a thin layer of knowing, tongue-in-cheek irony that separates it!

It's a bit on the campy side perhaps, but I'm not really sure it's even a cult film at this point, it just didn't get much attention when it was released.

I got to see it last year when it was screened at one of the local independent theaters and it's really a great film in pretty much every way. It's just a shame it didn't get more attention when it was new.

Kind of reminds me of The Professional and Blade Runner. Blade Runner was a good film as screened, but the Director's Cut is one of the few that's actually better than the theatrical cut. The Professional though, actually is a much better film as a Director's Cut, the theatrical release left out tons of character and plot development that the director had intended to be in there. Which made the characters less real and overall the film suffered for it.
