It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Sachys: it definately at least need the option to browse by poster, views, replies, date etc. other than that it dies fine as i often find myself reading a discussion that would otherwise be missed or ignored by me due to my tastes in gaming / offtopic stuff.
yes that option, for me, would be most welcome.

Weird thing is I think it's there, but not switched on - which is probably why the search function is so bloody odd!

strange - the search function has never seemed to like me lol
The most useful thing for me would probably be a "go to first unread post" button.
This comes up a lot, then people complain about how it would kill the forum, and ultimately nothing is done.

It's one of those things that Mr. Gog seems to not care at all about. They give lip service to getting moderation in here, but if you time things properly you can have a post up here for 8 hours or longer sometimes with nobody here to monitor it.

It's still a pretty good forum, but there's a very good reason why most fora have more than just one subforum for everything.

This is a good idea.

And a multi-quote feature would be a great idea (or am I blind?). Also, marking threads I have already posted in (or am I blind, again? I could swear the icons aren't changing xD).

As for some sub-topics, I actually do agree. Just seems so random right now. But doesn't really bother me, to be honest. Not being able to multi-quote does bother much more though :D

Yeah why don't we have subscribe to topics/threads or to subforums while we are at it ;)

Ian: Like I said in the previous discussion, we are discussing a hypothetical, as I cannot see GOG canvassing our views on changes they may / may not make. The lazier peeps would miss more if the forum is split as many would camp in 1 are, eg giveaways if they only want to grab games etc.
I honestly couldn't care less about people who can't be bothered to click the "next" button. If they don't care enough to click "next" they don't get to complain about not finding threads they enjoy.
(Perhaps GOG should have a more sympathetic approach to that particular issue, but I personally don't care what those people say.)

I always click a couple of pages back whenever I visit the forum, but if we had subcategories I'd probably click a few pages more (or at least participate in more discussions) because I wouldn't have to wade through x amounts of threads I don't care about. With subcategories the threads would already be roughly sorted, removing the threads that do not pertain to the category at all.

I think a good compromise would be to keep the main forum page the way it is today (with a collage of categories and discussions), and then add the ability to sort by categories for those who want it. The main page would then remain untouched for those who like to browse through everything, and we would have categories available for those of us who like a more orderly setup.

As for GOG not spending resources on this right now - that's probably true, but if we keep talking about it they will hopefully understand that this is an issue for those of us who visit the forum fairly regularly, which in turn will hopefully make it a higher priority for them. :)

That isn't the search function. No one likes you. :P
Having come from various forums, I will admit that these forums are incredibly disorganized, but at least they aren't butt ugly, blindingly white, or associated with a site whose staff have the overall style and UI design skill of a wild boar(deviantArt, I'm glaring at you.).

I think some basic categories would help bring some order in this chaotic, but otherwise peaceful forum.
At the same time I rather like being able to visit one place and seeing all the different discussions. Since the forum isn't terribly busy with new posts every second, it's still manageable to see various types of topics in one place.
I have always been against segregation of the forum - it may lead to lots of stagnant thread and everyone posting in off-topic anyway.
Ultimately if you want to see a huge forum like this with no stress, you have to make an exclusive browser.
However I don't think it's necessary for GOG forums because although forum is one of the great things of GOG, that's not all the things we do here. We submit reviews, make GOGmixes, vote community wishlists, and of course search and buy Good Old Games right here.
Getting used to, is the fastest way after all, I guess.
