Valve and EA have announced Left 4 Dead 2. Game will have 5 new campaigns, 4 new characters and Ai Director 2.0.

I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but gosh, if that doesn't sound like DLC I don't know what does.
I'm glad that I didn't get L4D when it was on sale. Though it was fun, it seams to be worthless now that the sequel is coming out. They better start a massive price cut on the game if they want people to continue to buy it.
dead serious, if they charge another 50 bucks for this, when they haven't even finished L4D 1, then I am not buying it. this is disgusting.
I planned to get left four dead but i was broke.
so probably will get the new version. depends on internet opinion.

Exactly my thoughts. I hope they will make something to first L4D owners.
I agree with you Weclock, announcing a sequel when original game is still unfinished, really sucks.
First teaser.

Wow... that's.... Hm... Honestly, I'm kind of annoyed, and not really impressed. Maybe they're going for the Dynasty Warriors approach.
I was waiting for a price cut before getting L4D, but that never came.
So now it seems the sequel will be out before I get the first game, with their overpriced policy.Really lame on Valve part.
high rated
Note: vulgarities abound, do not read on if you are sensitive to the eff word. Instead, all you need to know is that I'm extremely disgruntled, furiously dissatisfied, and superimposingly annoyed

Damn right. Sorry for vulgarities, but fuck Valve and fuck Turtle Suck. L4D is still broken and still lacking in content.
The game is still broken. Network issues are still widespread. I'm still getting viruses from some servers which have an iframe exploit on their MOTD. Matchmaking is still shit, making it impossible to get a good versus game going, where everyone has low latency. Still not being able to open server browser w/o using console = wtf are they drinking I want some too
Secondly, the first DLC was nothing more than a "patch" to add what they failed to deliver at launch - it was a funny situation, everyone was cheering "good ol Valve!" (admittedly, even me too because I was excited about Survival), and then when the hype died down, people realised that the 2 brand effing spanking new versus campaigns were what TRS forgot to add during launch. And Survival mode is nothing more than a series of camp fests, exploited to death by the L4D community with even more linear and dumbed down gameplay compared to the co-op campaigns
Thirdly, for $60 bloody dollars at launch, I'd have expected more. No shit bros, instead what I got delivered to my doorstep was the worst damn packaging I've ever seen - a printed envelope which you have to tear open to extract the disc and other contents. I don't know if anyone else in the world got such a cheapass packaging, but I did. Nevertheless, I was able to forgive that. A bigger problem I had, though, was that for less than $60, I've had games like Space Rangers 2, Galactic Civ 2 etc offer 5x more hours of content than L4D. The whole point of random generated hordes and weapons is to create a sense of suspense isn't it? Well what's the freaking point when the spawn points are still the same? What replayability is left after playing the same campaign 8 times? Besides trying to beat your time, none whatsoever. Sure the levels are well made, but it sounds like a cheap way out to tell your fans that they can expect plenty of replayability thanks to random hordes. Point is, once you know where to go, once you know where the good camping spots are, once you know how to take down a tank at Expert difficulty, the game loses its charm quickly.
From Fatty Newell: "A large part of how Left 4 Dead became 2008's top-selling new IP on Xbox 360 and the PC was the custom-tailored gameplay made possible by the AI Director,"
Sure Gabe, and your donuts are custom made to fit your daily calorie needs. What custom tailored gameplay is there when you know that the train station map in Death Toll will spawn zombies 80% of the time once you cross over the fence and jump down from the train carriage?
Sorry but reading the intended features on that page just doesn't sell the game to me. When they say "changing world objects", mark my words it'll probably be something like putting a random trashcan in the middle of the road. And it'll be the same old thing all over again: go from point A to point B, finish. Screw that, uniquely challenging experience my ass unless they make a true zombie game which involves having to scrounge for ammo, barricade doors, explore a large city to find more randomly generated supplies etc. That would be so awesome, but no, we're stuck with Serious Dead 2
Or Serious Camp 2
Or Camp 4 Dead 2

actually the two versus modes were removed w/in the first few weeks of the game being released, and then were readded as a part of the "survival pack" which really isn't much of a pack at all.
for those of you who want a really good co-op zombie experience, I recommend Call of Duty World At War as well as Killing Floor.
l4d is so terrible. :(

I seem to remember something like this, now that you mention it. Something about the 2 versus campaigns being unbalanced or along that line, amirite?

You should earn a rep star just from that. XD
Lyrical genius.

Yeah, and they were just fine, and most servers could turn them on as long as you had an admin present.
seriously, all they did was change two lines of code from zero's to ones for default server configs
