Well, I'm not going to join the crowd bandwagon by saying that I am not impressed, and I can't see why anyone is. Its a combination of Mercenaries and Mass Effect with the resultant being a crappy third person literpg.
Meh, meh, meh.
Why literpg? It can be as detailed as a traditional RPG and just not have turn based combat, its not against the law...

Aliasalpha: Is that coming this year? I thought it was early next year

Coelocanth: Yep, like Elerond said, it's slated for this fall. It was supposed to be out this past March but was delayed to coincide with the console launch of the game.

I thought it'd been pushed back till next march. Damn, looks like I'll have to get it on 360 rather than PC

Why do you have to get it on console? Why not the PC version - or is your rig not up to the task?

Heh, I haven't even GOT a rig & no chance of affording one this year. Only a laptop that can't QUITE play Dawn of War 2 (so heartbreakingly close but its just too slow) and I imagine that DA:O will be at least that intensive.
Ah. My condolences. Yeah, I expect the game will be somewhat hardware demanding (although I don't know if they've released any hardware requirements for it yet).
Its lite because the interface, the gameplay mechanics and the overall feel of the game is too actiony. They're obviously going for more of a shooter type, giving people dialogue options != RPG.
I honestly don't see the difference between that system and D&D aside from the realtime thing.
You gain experience, you level up your character, you improve your skills which makes you more effective in combat, conversation and puzzle solving.
From my perspective, the main difference between that & a generic fantasy rpg is that instead of hovering a cursor over a monster, clicking once to attack and then waiting to see what the outcome is, you have to hover a mouse cursor (or equivelent controller input) over an enemy, keep clicking the mouse button to shoot whilst moving the character with the keyboard (or equivelent controller inputs). As long as everything is determined by background dice rolls then its an RPG to me.
