Considering that (i believe) there are no games developed by Tribute Games Inc. at all on GOG my guess would be they don't like to deal with the hassle of technical maintenance on more than one platform. I kind of doubt the Publisher is to blame, considering how extremely popular Streets of Rage 4 was.
As opposed to popular belief, it may not be just the publisher's call on which platforms the game in question is released on, but that it's also the developer of the game in question who has a say, maybe even the last word in this matter.

Thus it's entirely possible that despite Dotemu's involvement as the publisher and their track record of releasing on GoG (Streets of Rage 4 being the most noteable and recent example) it may come down to the developer of Shredder's Revenge, Tribute Games simply not wanting to release DRM-free on GoG, at least for the time being.

I strongly doubt that Tribute Games' aversion for a GOG release has anything to do with DRM but i think they just like heavily incorporating Steam features in their games and don't want to deal with another infrastructure. The reason i believe this is that TMNT: Shredder's Revenge seems to work perfectly fine without having Steam running if you just play the Arcade Mode (i only tried 2 stages), while the Story Mode works but won't load savegames and have the game crash if you press anything corresponding to an online feature (which happens very easily because the game constantly pushes online play onto you on what feels like every screen).

When SoR 4 was originally released here, all online features were just cut out and there was a lot of backlash against that in reviews, so perhaps DotEmu wasn't too enthusiastic about dealing with the same situation here again either?

Hey folks. It looks like the game will NOT be on GOG. I posed the question on the Tribute games discord channel, and one of the developers replied with it being 'Just Steam'.

Ofcourse this doesn't mean it will always be on steam only. Maybe in the future it will be on GOG. But as mentioned above, they don't have a track record of having their games on GOG.

Oh well. I actually just played through the whole story campaign on Game Pass. Fun little beat-em up, but nothing I would put out top dollar for. *shrug*

Top dollar? It's like $30 after tax. Triple A games are about $90.

I am playing this game on Gamepass so no biggie, So much fun.
Haven't finished the game yet. But in case anyone is wondering...

- native PS4 controller support on PC

- can't remap buttons [edit: turns out you actually can. You need to open big picture mode in Steam. Select the game, and turn/force off Steam input]

- The Switch doesn't have a way to track achievements, and because of that has them built into the game. The Steam version has client based achievements. It's kind of up in the air which one we'll get if or when it comes here. Maybe we'll get both.

- There is an Epic Games Store version, but I can't find it. I know it exists because when I try multi-player it shows the EGS logo.

- It's also on the Window's store, but it's more expensive (about $2).

This is true in a LOT of cases across lots of devs and publishers, IMO. Especially if there is any kind of online component, no matter how small.
They probably don't want to mess with Galaxy and add have to add achievements. How many games have we missed out on here because people insist on having achievements?

There's already a version with built in achievements. They don't have to add it to Galaxy if they don't want to.

You only mean controller buttons though, right? Because i can remap the keyboard controls just fine, but for some reason the configuration doesn't save and i have to do it every time i start the game all over again.
It's a shame not to have this one here.

I was going to say that I think it would do well on GOG, mostly by assuming that SOR4 did well, but I realized I have no idea how to actually measure that. On the list of all-time bestsellers (excluding DLC) SOR4 happens to be on page 39 of 93... which I can't really say what that means, I'm not sure how that should be interpreted.

Likely not all that many, considering that plenty of games are released without achievements anyway.
