J Lo: - can't remap buttons
avatar
InSaintMonoxide: You only mean controller buttons though, right? Because i can remap the keyboard controls just fine, but for some reason the configuration doesn't save and i have to do it every time i start the game all over again.
I fired up the Switch version and noticed the game let me remap controls. I thought maybe I overlooked it on the PC version. I booted it up and notice it wasn't there for controllers.

PC: https://imgur.com/a/WugFiR2

I don't get it - why would they have it for one version, but leave it out in the other?
avatar
DoomSooth: They probably don't want to mess with Galaxy and add have to add achievements. How many games have we missed out on here because people insist on having achievements?
Just thought of something...the game is done by DotEmu. They have released games here both with and without achievements. Achievements wouldn't be a deterrent either way.

Just out of curiosity: How did you even get the PC version to recognize a controller? I tried to check if the option to customize disappears when i start using a controller, but pushing any button on my plugged in Xbox 360 controller does absolutely nothing. Riddle me this, J Lo ...

Same problem here with the X1 controller.

I noticed you are using a 360 controller, so I thought that might be the problem considering it is old tech at this point. I couldn't find my first party controller, but I did end up using a Street Fighter 4 gamepad, which was made for the Xbox 360. I plugged it into my PC and it worked fine. I didn't do anything special to make it work, I just plugged it in.

I checked PCGamingwiki and at there is nothing addressing this issue at the time of posting. I checked the Steam discussion sub-forum and some other people are having this issue, but I didn't find a solution. I used Google and can't find anything anywhere that talks about this problem. I did find the support page for Tributegames, and I suggest you contact them:https://www.tributegames.com/#contact

I don't plan to use a Gamepad anyway. I'm just trying to figure out why i can configure keyboard controls but the PC version doesn't let you configure Gamepad controls. But as M3troid said, the Xbone controller doesn't seem to work either apparently?
I plugged in my Switch Pro controller and was pleasantly surprised to see the game recognizes it as a Switch pad. The buttons on Nintendo controllers are the other way around (compared to Xbox controllers) so using them on PC can get confusing. We get Nintendo button prompts et all.

Multiplayer is a lot of fun. The game gets too easy if you have a full house, but it's still great IMO. It's also pretty short, but for $30 I can't complain. I think arcade games in general don't last that long.

The game also has more bugs than an insect terrarium. Sometimes I need to reboot the game because the sprites don't appear on screen (but can still interact with the environment) and I can't see anything. Another common bug is a foot soldier drops dead, and ends up sticking to the player.

I'm going to finish my coffee and try to get some shuteye, as I was playing the game all night.

Edit: BTW, the taunt actually serves a purpose. If you can do it uninterrupted, your power meter will fill up.

Edit 2: there's no friendly fire...which is a shame because I want to PK the stupid bastard who took the pizza I badly needed.

I tried my Xbox One controller and that one worked too.

I have 3 controllers: X1, SN30 Pro e DS4. None of them worked.

Well, guess i will have to play with keyboard.
There are some strange posts here. I plugged in my Xbox like controller from pdp and ran the game and it recognises without any issues. I am on chapter 14 and had no issues whatsoever in game or menus. The game itself really scratches that 80s vibe, although it’s a bit easy and enemies sometimes do “dissappear” off the side of the screen. Turtley fun though!
I just thot of something in regards to the controller issue. In Steam open Big Picture Mode. Go to settings, and under Controller click Controller Settings. If Xbox Configuration Support is checked, un-check it. If it's un-checked vice versa. After that try playing the game. If that doesn't work try the same thing with Generic Gamepad Configuration Support.

I was previously on a ban, so I didn't get to share this important information earlier, but Tribute Games assured me in their Discord server that there are no plans for a GOG release or any DRM-Free release of the game. The reason they gave me is that the game requires steam or windows store as a backend and cannot work properly without it.

The game's exe is DRM-Free and will work fine in the arcade mode. However, if you try to play the story mode it will bring up an error that it is looking for Steamworks. It doesn't require steam to execute, but it will require steam in the game's story mode as that's the backend they're talking about.

The story mode works fine on Switch, though. It's also on PS4/5. I don't have the current gen Playstation consoles, but I assume the story mode works there too. I'm not suggesting you are wrong, I just think it's weird they would say that is the reason they won't bring the game to GoG.

Edit: I forgot to thank you for bringing this information to us. I appreciate your efforts and I apologize for not doing so earlier.

Lucky it got cracked about 2 seconds after release. Chalk another success up to drm. Funny how developers insist it needs x and y to work and yet are clearly either lying or incompetent.

"Requires Steam or Windows Store as a backend"

Translation: Steam has a lot of customers and Microsoft paid us some good cash to make it available on GamePass day-1.

The game is already technically DRM-free and can run without Steam. It does need Steamworks for online functionality and will crash if you allow it to attempt to upload scores and the like.

No one, and not even the developers are acting like this was some super protected DRM'd title. The fact that this wasn't a DRM'd title and they still chose not to release on GOG says it all.

And also, the fact that it got "cracked" about two seconds after release means that a GOG release would sort of be redundant. The games already DRM-free or cracked, and it's easily backed up or archived for someone who already purchased the game on Steam.

So saying that, if you're the developers or publisher why spend time and resources releasing the game on GOG when the Steam version offers everything and more than a GOG version would? It's kind of in the same situation as something like Hades is in. Is a GOG release even necessary? It's going to get pitiful sales numbers and is it even worth the time and effort when the only benefit the GOG version has is already there on Steam...
