I don't care for Gulag Libtard Chromium, I deleted Gulag APIs in some of my browsers. I block them with AdBlock Plus. And as I said 1000 times before I don't NEED or WANT a launcher. GoG got an edge even over Epic, by offering everything DRM free and installation files on website. Once they blend into the rest of the numbskull pool of sewage, they will lose profits. I for one no longer buy from launcher Corpos. and I bought 5 games for less than $40, last night, mostly recovery of games I had on launchers defunct. To me the launchers are obsolete, sell software on USB Rom Sticks or sell the install files on a website. I am done with dumbass shit.

Okay, taking this in order:

1) Language is important. Unsupported doesn't mean that you can't make something work, it means that it's not supported. That being said, I wouldn't use core hardware that's unsupported in an OS (as opposed to example a game controller), but if you want to do that, feel free. I wouldn't.

2) That's literally not the methodology for the Steam Hardware Survey. My post also makes it clear that there are limitations in the methodology used in said survey, particularly if you compare to the users here.

3) As a single example, DX12U is not natively available in Windows 7. While MS has released a device to back-end it in, this is on a game by game basis, and not across the board. This is a single example, provided to disprove your 0/0 comment.

4) You did say that you don't use the launcher, but then you also said that GoG would lose plenty of money if Windows 7 users can't buy through the launcher. My point is still valid.

I would also say that based on the average user still using Windows 7 and posting here, they appear more worried about privacy and control (sometime to an excessive level) than users who have upgraded. They are therefore unlikely to use the launcher because of whatever insults you want to throw at it chromium, so GoG is unlikely to lose money by not completely re-writing the launcher from scratch to satisfy a couple of people who aren't using the launcher anyway because they're more worried about being spied on by American companies than the CCP.

Galaxy for Linux please! Does Galaxy save game saves on a server remotely for easier system transfer like Steam does? Even if not, it sure would be nice if Galaxy worked for Linux. But to keep on being able to work on only versions of Window would be nice too.

Ease of installing and playing games, transferring saves, presetup Linux support for even nonLinux games, Steam is just easier to use.

Best would be to grab the original Windows 3, not Windows 3.11 for Workgroups. That first one seems to be ok.

Well, even though a lot of you don't agree on Windows 7 and if GOG should cater to these users, I sure am glad to have so much in common with those of you that are sick of Steam. Steam kicked me off of XP, which I loved and still use it on an older PC. I upgraded to 8.1 because none of the newer games would work. I, myself, am done with buying PC games, unless GOG can make it worth it for me (they are likely to do the same as steam). Time for me to go all console.

If you don't mind keeping different consoles for games from different eras, you should consider doing the same for PC games.

Not really. All of the W7 "telemetry" (and upgrade to W10 nag) updates that contained it could be skipped whilst the "slipstream packs" like Simplix already pre-stripped them out. W10-11's telemetry problem comes with forced updates, ie you can't skip them. That's the "big thing" that's always made W10-11 telemetry, etc, a far worse problem than everything that came before even had W7, etc, had the same Telemetry (which they weren't even in the same ballpark). Also, XP had no telemetry.

If you ignore CEIP or for some reason say, it's something entirely differen, then this statement is true.

Gog should look into creating their own linux distros that can play gog games with better performance metrics.

That's old news. Unless you're using Enterprise / Education, even Pro users can't actually disable it properly (setting "Security Level" or 0 even in Group Policy gets overridden to the next level up) and that 'shares' far more than any W8 or prior version did (when "shut up" meant "no really, shut up") as people have been verifying for years under W10 via Wireshark and seeing it "chatters" an awful lot more than it should. So no "Because of CEIP W7 is just the same" is still not even remotely true at all, either on the scale of it, nor the fact W7 Home / Pro users weren't blocked from turning it off / disabling an unwanted update they way they are with W10-11.

You got no idea how much information can be collected about you while typing this text in the browser. They learn a LOT more about someone using a browser than about someone turning an all optional telemetry. Since when I got some insight at some point, I don't care much anymore about what Windows does and what not.

Regardless of what you think of Steam/MS's intentions or how bad or good MS's new OS's are, no sane person should connect a W7 (or older) computer to the internet anymore without very serious segmentation/security practices, which I highly doubt most people do. .

Sure... you don't *have* to download on old computers because you can always copy DRM-Free games to it, but I suspect many are just using Galaxy/directly downloading onto it out of convenience.

I highly recommend a connected device with an old OS to be solely for gaming and nothing else, and even then you'll likely have to expose accounts on it to log into services or games, or people are likely to connect to a (web)mail account to get that info, and that's just personal security concerns. The computer will probably end up mining bitcoin or being part of a botnet eventually.

Windows 7 is the SAFEST OS to connect to the internet with. It's more strict than Win 10 and all patching has been COMPLETED. Whereas Win 10 is not complete and will end service in 2025 before they complete it, and it's still a virus selling you out. Windows 11 is the FIRST attempt to take your "device" into their hands and tell you what you can and cannot do with your own computer.

However note that where Windows 7 brought capabilities and innovations over XP, such as: Ram expansion to 5+gb, Drive expansion to 2+TB, 64bit operation, USB 3.0 & many others; Windows 10 & 11 bring none of that.
