That kind of defeats the entire purpose of the whitelist firewall if you let someone else to decide for you what processes are allowed to access the internet.

It is the age old problem of everyone interpreting the the word support differently, which often tends to just cause unnecessary friction in situations where almost everyone would agree that ending official support for an old OS shouldn't automatically necessitate making something incompatible with that OS as soon as possible.

For Windows 7:
- End of life - January 2020
- End of ESU - January 2023

Chromium
- Windows 7 not supported from January 2023

Steam
- Windows 7 incompatibility from January 2024

GoG Galaxy 2.0
- Windows 7 never officially supported
- Windows 7 incompatibility - TBC

GoG Offline Installers
- Installers are compatible with Windows 7
- Support and games currently on a case-by-case basis

Needless to say, when an OS reaches end of life, as Windows 7 has, at some point things are going to stop working and will require increasingly complicated workarounds and eventually even these will stop fully working.

Ir's unfortunate as I really liked Windows 7/`10 but not so much 11. It is bound to happen.

Gulag Chromium Not Supported Ever.
AOL/Hotmail Not Supported Since Windows XP.
Yahoo tolerated but not used since Windows 98, except for spam websites & accounts.
Adobe Not Supported since they can't stand themselves...
Java Not Supported because it's a failed 4th GL, since Windows 7.
IE Browser not supported since Netscape Suite (now called Seamonkey Suite).

As for the convenience of upgrading/downgrading updates on my games, I need NONE if they work initially. I don't need a shortcut manager, I know how to make folders.


The Difference Is - Galaxy will survive the OS Exodus with flying colors. The others... not so much.
