aRealCyborg: but what about a game like Overwatch? that probably will never be made DRM free. I say if you want to play it enough get it on that platform to play it even if you do not really want to. if the game is that good and that exciting to you play it but then again that is also up to you
I don't really enjoy playing public multiplayer and getting enough friends together for that type of a game is not going to happen that often for me, so even if that game would be released here I would at best buy it just to support GOG.

victorchopin: Yep like every US studio wanting a "cinematic universe" crap kinda deal. My lord. STOP!
Cimematic universes(if done right and cutscenes are skippable) can be and are made decently more often than some are willing to admit. Heck, I like some of them compared to some very old black and white/low color games.

Ancient-Red-Dragon: The OP is incorrect. It says that THQ goes "all-in" on GOG. But no, it doesn't.

THQ has plenty of GOG games that they don't bother to give Achievements for even though those same games on Steam do have Achievements.

Unequal, parity-lacking, feature-removed games is certainly not "all-in," and THQ should be ashamed of themselves until if/when they do the right then and bring 100% Achievement parity to all of their GOG games, past, present, and future.
You said in other threads you dislike most modern games, yet you seem to clamor for modern flash in the pan trends like achievements. Why is that?

To be fair and honest it was and is an honest question. Achievements are one of the biggest cash grab tactics(imo) by console and game makers to draw people in and yet that user likes and wants them but claims to dislike most modern games......to me that is a paradox.

Pretty much, my inner circle is far more likely to meet up 1-3 times a month to play boardgames than have more than two of us to agree on what to play online even once a year.

Good for ya.
Even playing online once a year (yikes) seems a good deal to me, if done amazingly.

That is ok, I personally love some public multiplayer games. Though when i do play them i play them to much so i never finish signal player games. I try to keep it at a mix but atm i am doing more signal player games
Will Rockstar Games release the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 on GOG at launch?

There was a press release on the 4th of October that didn't mention GOG by name but, after listing all the usual destinations you might suspect, said there were "additional digital retailers" in the mix.

IGN posted an article on the 9th of October saying: "It will be available on all major PC launchers including Epic Games Store, GOG, and Rockstar’s own launcher. Red Dead Redemption 2 will also be coming to Steam, but in December."

https://www.ign.com/articles/2019/10/09/red-dead-redemption-2-pc-specs-and-enhancements-revealed-pre-purchase-now

Could it be a typo? Maybe, but then the video they made to accompany the article says it's coming to "Good Old Games".

GOG could really use a win like this. A chance to prove to other AAA publishers what kind of sales they can deliver if they're given day 1 access.

No. They won't.
3rd Party Launcher
In-game MTX

Will. Not. Happen.
Not day 1. Not ever.

I have very little doubt that it's IGN failing to do due diligence when compiling a list, slapping it into copy to be read in the video and just leaving it in the article. If it were being released on GOG, don't you think Rockstar would've mentioned them in the announcement it made on its site when it listed the stores the game would be available at?

Not necessarily if they were still in negotiations with GOG. Again, the press release on October 4th did say there were "additional digital retailers" beyond the ones they mentioned. If everything was already set in stone then they wouldn't have said that, they would have just listed them all. It's possible a deal was finalized sometime after.

A fair point. I personally don't see this as a reality (surely I could be wrong come time the game does release) and I certainly don't see it as a "win" on GOG's behalf to net a game that uses another party's launcher and comes with micro-transactions in tow (and yes, I'm aware that GWENT is a thing that exists).
If this is true, I can't imagine that the GOG version wouldn't be DRM-free, at least for single player.

While I'll be stunned to receive anything outside of a form response, I sent something to Rockstar's support channel to see if they'd possibly confirm that GOG will in fact be a retailer of the game or if IGN's just being a bunch of addle brained buffoons as usual.
