I disagree about the propaganda part. Yeah, Nadine Ross the inexplicable hateful superwoman was terrible in 4, but here she actually is written pretty well, and the (already good) game vastly improves when Sam Drake shows up, he's actually a much more likeable character here than in 4 as well, and all three characters have some pretty great banter together and over a short period become a very fun team. I'd actually say that Lost Legacy is a good example of diverse cast that doesn't feel forced or hateful towards anyone (Nadine is hateful at the start, but that's not propaganda but a character arc and she gets over it) and I'd be glad to have the same trio for another game.

Also, while I did really love Lost Legacy, I actually very much like the Uncharted games for not being open world. I like the pace of the games, going through well designed self-contained levels (that still usually feel like a big world even when it's jsut an illusion) from one interesting place to another quickly always with something happening. There's a deluge of Assassin's Creed/Far Cry/Watch Dogs/Horizon/Shadow of Mordor/etc. open world games, and Uncharted feels much more special among them the way it is.

I don’t disagree, the prop was just to do with all the men in the game being “the enemy” and all the women “the good guys” with a guest appearance to tie the previous titles in.
You should try days gone, it’s an open world however I find it very linear. You rarely have more than 1 or 2 things to do at any time.

I agree with crafting being annoying in general for the exact reason you just stated. It didn't bother me at all in Tomb Raider though, as the extremely linear nature of the games prevented busywork of any kind for me. In fact, i appreciate the new Tomb Raider games precisely for the fact that they get straight to the point with the action without unnecessary bloat.

Who cares? Uncharted 4 is a horrible game. And also chockful of offensive political propaganda IIRC.

Curious about pricing and system requirements. Are they going to charge the same as on PS store or extra? Days Gone usually costs £55 on their store and £40 on Steam. Then Horizon Zero Dawn is free on PS store, whereas on PC is around £40-50. Remains to be seen.

IMHO Uncharted 1 - 3 are as good or better than Tomb Raider, but Uncharted 4...

... is a mess.

It's a strangely paced, cobbled-together story that is trying harder to be more "meaningful" than fun. Tones and themes are thrown around in a way that makes the final product feel self-indulgent -- the work of someone who has "important" things to say over simply telling a good adventure yarn.

IMO Uncharted 4 suffered from Druckman's incredible success writing / directing The Last of Us. After his "deification" over the storytelling in that game, Druckman fired Amy Hennig, who had written all prior Uncharted games (she wrote the initial first draft of Uncharted 4 as well) and took over the story responsibilities on Uncharted 4... and you can tell. While not IMO spouting politics -- like his The Last of Us II -- Uncharted 4 wants to be profound but forgets to be fun.

Now this doesn't mean Uncharted 4 is without any good scenes and action set-pieces. It still has many elements of what could have been a successful game of the genre (and it did very well critically and in sales)... but they're not arranged in a way that creates plot momentum... and they pale in relation to 2 and 3 for size and scale.

Having been a huge fan of the Uncharted games since 1, I couldn't stand 4. In fact I finally sold the PS4 disc a month or two back because I finally came to terms with never caring to play the game again.

So is it better than Tomb Raider?

I think Uncharted 2 and 3 (possibly 1) are great games and on par (or better) than Tomb Raider (reboot). But if I had a chance to play Uncharted 4 or the Tomb Raider (reboot) games, I'd rather play Tomb Raider. While not perfect, those games at least never forgot that they needed to be adventures! And don't even get me started on Uncharted 4's standalone dlc game where they got rid of Nathan Drake... ugh...

With all respect to kai, I think he's utterly wrong and 4 is easily the best game in the series. Best locations, best story, it's not flawless but it's an amazing adventure that closes the main series and elevates it at the same time. It's really best to play all of them and make up your own mind.

I picked up dark collection, 4, and lost legacy for next to nothing off eBay. Probably £10 or something each, and you can probably cheaper on ps store specials. Don’t like Xbox so don’t know about that.
