paladin181: It might seems harsh, but when people do a bad job, they should be fired. A job isn't a right or an entitlement, You have to earn it. At least you should have to earn it. If I did a shitty job at my current employment, I would be looking for another one because my services would not be retained. I'm not saying everyone at Telltale did a shitty job, but the overall product was shit.

Starmaker: Basically this. Under modern Western capitalism, you're not entitled to a job you like (or any job at all), but welfare is an option. Under Soviet communism, you're entitled to a job (or VT and a job if there's unmet demand). Expecting certain people to get paid what they want for doing what they want is twitter cancer.
To gloat in the face of people losing their job through no fault of their own is gross.

Also, any attempts to turn the thread political will be met with moderation.

Having bare basic human empathy shouldn't be a skill.
I liked everything Telltale did before Jurassic Park. You know, REAL games. All their adventures were good, I enyjoyed Bone, Sam & Max, Wallace & Gromit and Tales from Monkey Island very much.

I was shocked about their "new direction". Those quicktme-event interactive narration "games" have very poor gameplay. The stories were good, but that's not enough to qualify as a game. So I was very sad about the loss of a good adventure game developer, when they started this bs.

It's sad for all the people who lost their job, and I hope they'll find a new one quick. But apart from that, the shutdown is not a big loss for gamers like me.
Oh fucking hell, does this mean the Walking Dead is going to die on a cliffhanger? I was enjoying this series... I guess there's no point playing the rest now.

I don't gloat. No one is entitled to get paid what they want for doing what they want. Money is an entitlement to a product of someone else's labor, probably hard and most likely forced by necessity. When you order pizza, I bet the cook and the delivery driver would rather be at a cushy white collar office or at home with their families. This is not a case of workers getting screwed out of money they'd earned, or a successful studio raided by hedge fund managers. The sales chart proves no one has wanted to play Telltale games for a long time. If you want to make games, make the games other people would suffer oil burns and spinal dislocations for you to make.

I honestly have no clue how you think this is even slightly relevant to my comments.
Extra Credits did an episode on total steam sales figures recently and when they mentioned Telltale's I was like "How are they still in business?"...

Well, there it is...

We're currently looking into how the current situation affects TellTale Games on GOG. Given it's a weekend, we may have no further updates till the start of next week.

Don't panic just yet. Updates will be posted on the forums as we get them.
this is tragic. I did enjoy Telltale's games. Some of them more, some less, but each of them was fun.
and I was looking forward for the announced new seasons.
such a shame we won't see any more of them. I was hoping they would at least finish the last season of TWD.
It really is an enormous loss for the gaming industry.

In a certain way that would almost be a poetic ending to Telltale.
After all, they kind of got started by never finishing Bone series, so they have come around to a full circle, so much has happened, but nothing has changed.

Well, in this scenario everyone dies sooner or later. Just like in the real world. Do you want so see Clementine die?

firstpastthepost: Well now I’m glad I held off on buying the last walking dead game since it will either be unfinished or more likely have the final episodes released as a buggy mess that never gets fixed so they can say it’s finished and not provide refunds.

Anime-BlackWolf: Nope, very unlikely that will happen. GOG / MS / Sony will pull the last season from their stores as soon as they hear about Telltale getting shut down to avoid problems with angry customers in the future.

I do not expect Episode 2 to be released in a few days UNLESS it would be a better ending to the story than episode 1.

Show is over, but this happens if you buy into an unfinished product.

If nobody is left to work on TWD, than there will never be any additional content/bugfixes for the released episodes.

I hope their catalog will go on sale a last time, I would get "Guardians of the Galaxy" and be done with it.
I actually think it getting pulled right away is the least likely thing that will happen. If Telltale says that they’ll finish the game or asks for more time then I doubt any store front will pull it. There have been plenty of broken or abandoned games on the gog storefront now. Why would this be any different?
I'd buy the first two episodes of TWD The Final Season, if they would be on sale.
I mean they should be. Because it's just not right to charge full prize for a game that will never be finished. =(

The store announces parts 1 to 4. Part 1 is available, part 2 is coming (eventually), parts 3 and 4...

If they change to "only episodes 1+2 will be available" everything is okay, but selling the (cancelled?) parts 3 and 4 would be technically fraud, GOG would not do that.

*points towards the post I made under an hour ago*

Let's not start theory crafting. I understand people are concerned, but it's best to wait for some level of information beyond unconfirmed hearsay we see on social media.

pretty sure they will change it after an official message from Telltale after the weekend.
everything will be clearer on monday.
