It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I noticed the very same thing. It only just finished downloading a < 1GB file after having to retry a dozen times and at a staggeringly low speed. I'm only seeing this with GOG, so I'm assuming it's a GOG (or more specifically, GOG CDN) problem.

Even installing the GOG Galaxy client itself, using the 900k web installer, posed a problem. Every time I restarted the installer, it downloaded a couple MB quickly (if lucky) and then speed dropped to a dead stop. In the end I tracked down the full installer URL, which still only downloaded fine after retrying a couple times. Seems there are some problems with GOG CDN. I have the feeling also that whenever downloading from the GOG CDN, my entire internet connectivity becomes very slow. Tested this by aborting the download a few times, and every time, after the abort, responsiveness and speed becomes normal again.

I have to stress this is a GOG thing only. Steam downloads are usually in the order of 10 MB/s or more (I'm on a 250 Mbit connection), while GOG only briefly reaches maybe 3.7 MB/s before dropping to Napster speeds on a slow 1999 modem before breaking altogether.

Well described mate, very similar behaviour here using a browser.

I have raised a support ticket, will add a link to this thread.
Thanks.
If you have a Dell (and mabye AlienWare), there is this garbage called SmartByte that might be tanking your download speed. Uninstalled it and immediately went from 300-600kBs to 5-6MBs.
I think it might be a recent addition.
Is it because of cyberpunk or is GOG just way slower than all other services. (Steam, UPLAY, Origin etc.)
I'm only getting 8 MB/s and rarely get up to 20MB/s.

On other services it stays around 80MB/s all time

This does impact which platform i choose to but my games on. Even though they may cost a bit more elsewhere

I think it's mostly due cyberpunk

I mean, yes, but the reason why you see slow or fast download speeds is because the internet isn't just this abstract formless concept, it's because you are literally connecting to a server (another computer) that can only upload so much, because its internet pipe is only so fat. If everybody is downloading from GOG, I would imagine their entire server room is hotter than the surface of the sun and the entire server staff is in full HazMat gear spraying it down with industrial fire hoses until everybody finishes downloading.
Worked for me to set Download Speed Limit at 1.000 MB/s in the GOG Launcher.

Can confirm, literally did the same thing as you (set it to 9999), right now I get a stable 16-18 MB/s download speed.
No matter how I change the settings, I am only getting 0.5MB/s. I have a gigabit connection and one of the fastest routers on the market. It’s definitely not a problem on my side - I just downloaded a 7GB Windows iso which only took a couple of minutes. I understand that big launches are problematic, but this is really too much. If you can’t deal with the demand, don’t sell the product. Mentally kicking myself here for choosing to support GOG. Should have gone with steam.
Same for me. I have around 1-1,5 MB/s even tho I should have around 10-11 MB. Added to firewall, changed in settings to limited bandwidth (setting it to 9999) and nothing helps. It will takes over 12h to download the game and when I'll finally download it, I probably won't even be able to play it (even if my pc is better than recommended) cause I heard the optimization is terrible.

EDIT After 4GB downloaded it started to download with normal speed. I don't know why so don't ask

was about to make a new tread about similar issue, lol.

Im not using gog galaxy, but it feels like cyberpunk's release has caused a massive "steam sale" effect on gog's servers. Sometimes even the site itself returns errors related to heavy load. And standalone offline installers either fail to download due to interruptions or get extremely low download speed
Cyberpunk 2077 might be the last game I purchase from GOG. I'm trying to reinstall the game and my download has been stuck at under 2mbps for several hours now. I don't have this problem on other platforms.
