General Troubleshooting
-----------------------

If you're experiencing black screen / crash on launch, please try the following:

- Before starting the game, change video resolution to your desktop one (or the closest match). if that fails, try falling back to 1024x768. Video settings can be found under GOG Galaxy HERE
-- or in Start Menu HERE.
- Close any unnecessary applications running in the background, especially ones overlay-based like EVGA Precision, MSI Afterburner, GeForce Experience, FRAPS etc.
- If running multiple screen setup, try switching to a single monitor.

If none of the above helps, please send your DxDiag to our Support team HERE. The more information we have, the easier it will be to pinpoint the problem.

May the Force serve you well.

Heh heh heh. Racer X.

tinyE: how do you change the resolution? I didn't see anything for that, in game or a separate program.

Starting Video Settings in either of these ways brings up the exact same rdroid_gnome error. No browser running, no overlays I know of (not sure how to properly disable Geforce Experience, but I tried).

Tooluka: Does anyone know who owns this game now? After reading Wikipedia I assume that it is currently owned by Walt Disney via LucasArts (now a shell company), is this correct?

Does Electronic Arts related in any way to this title? Because they do own an exclusive license for SW themed video games.

Thanks. Not a trolling.
EA has an exclusive license to make new Star Wars games -- they didn't automatically come to own or control all existing SW games when they were granted that license, though.
So, yes, Disney own most of the old LucasArts-developed games. More importantly, though, they own the Star Wars brand -- so even old licensed material that was neither made nor published by a division of LucasFilm can't be sold without their okay.

(A good example of this with another IP is the old SSI-published D&D computer games that GOG now owns. Even though they bought the rights to the games themselves -- rather than merely securing the right to distribute them -- those games are still licensed D&D products, and GOG cannot distribute them without an agreement with Wizards of the Coast, who own Dungeons & Dragons.)

Lucasfilm (of which LucasArts was its video game division) always owned everything with the Star Wars name on it. Since Lucasfilm was bought by Disney, they are the ones who own it.

License to make new games. But they don't own the brand, franchise nor any of the games they made and will make.
awesome release !

now bring back FREELANCER and BLACK AND WHITE please :3
Thank you so much GOG team for releasing this game. One of the best racing games of all times, excellent Star Wars game. I made a comment 3 years ago that I will buy Racer immediately if you releas it. And I did. Thank you.
Great racing game in its own right. Played this on the SEGA Dreamcast, enjoyed it a lot (and I'm not a Star Wars fan at all).
how to play with a xbox one controller?
that doesn't work for me, only keyboard.

also, when alt tabbing out of the game, the game freezes after getting back into it again.
It's a shame the game is being advertized as fully compatible with controllers. Yeah right.. :(
Gonna get in touch with support.

buschap: I'll admit I haven't played this one, but if the game understands Xinput, you can set your desktop configuration to be an XBox controller. (There's an action set you can configure where it acts like a controller when the cursor is hidden and can be KBM when the cursor is visible.)
I tried this and it still isn't recognizing the Steam Controller

Sopbil: Would have liked to be able to choose 3840 × 2160 as game resolution since that is my desktops resolution.
Highest available is 2560x1440 :(
yeah same here, 4K resolution would be great. Shouldn't be hard to implement in theory, but you never know with an old game. My highest resolution availabe is 1080p, how did you get a 1440p option?

Vector_Leader: At last! I've been eagerly waiting for you guys to make this classic available. Thank you, GOG!

Now we just need Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Episode I: Battle for Naboo, Battlefront, Force Commander, Yoda Stories and The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes. :D
Let's not forget Indy Jones and the Infernal Machines, and some of the Lucasart "indepdendnt" games like Secert Weapons of the Luftwaffe.
I porbaly would give Naboo and Republic Heros a pass,(they did not look very good and I don't buy something just because it has "Star Wars" stamped on it) but they should be available for those who want to buy.

I've tried everything, and there's nothing that let me play the name as it is intended.

No idea to be honest. In the game page in Gog Galaxy under "More/Other/Video Settings" I have a list ranging from 640x480 to 2560x1440.
