Deadly exhibits.

Shivers, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Acting on a dare that you took to shut up your stupid friends, you find yourself spending the night inside a spooky museum, hunting down a bunch of escaped spirits that don't like your face one bit. A classic first-person adventure from masters of the genre Sierra On-Line made to chill and kill, if you're not careful.
For those who don't know. This is basically Pokemon in a Myst style. Only the Pokemon are evil demons. And you have to assemble the pokeball. The correct pokeball. And you have to find the damn things. By solving puzzles.
Great game!
OOOOOOOOOOOO.

I know what I'm buying!
As someone who never player or heard about this game, and doesn't mind it's graphics, actually I quite like the aesthetics judging by the screenshot, I'd like to ask for some help. How does the story telling and the gameplay held up for the modern days? Is it still enjoyable or nowadays only the nostalgia carries the experience?
The storytelling is dumb, but that's only a minor quibble. I don't remember if there were notes or audio logs scattered about, but most of what you would call narrative is in the beginning where your badly acted teen friends dare you to spend a night in the haunted museum and then at the end when you beat the game. The real meat of the game is in puzzle solving.

This. There is snippets of a story you piece together as you progress through the museum, but most of the items you find are found by solving the various puzzles littered all over the museum. (Professor Windlenot had a thing for 'em.)

It's a very atmospheric game, with some really creepy music (it has a pretty great OST from that great ensemble that Sierra had back in the 90s.) I don't wanna go into too much more detail due to spoiler territory, if you're interesting in trying it out, but I'd recommend it if you're into creepy Myst-light games.
Anyone know if the audio for the room dedicated to torture is just as loud and distorted as I remember? I used to hate passing through that bit because of how scary it was.

Thank you! Although it doesn't sound too awful and I like seeing how some people so passionate about this game, I think I'll pass. I'd much rather support indie devs than Activision. CHUCHEL looks so much fun ^^
high rated
Very happy to see everyone happy, happy. Happy happy.

Lovely

Awesome! I played this one back in the day, never got far but always meant to give it another try. Now I finally can. :)
Still have all my original drawings and notes in my note book from the day of 1995. If I remember I got stuck at the witch doctor and his drum beat? This of course goes with 7th Guest, 11th Hour. In my wish list naturally, but I'm not in a hurry due to remembering you need to draw things down. Better on holiday and zoned out. Class game from a class period of gaming.
Nice release (instabought) ! I'm still hoping for Rama.
This screams 90's to me with it's exagerated use of contrast and garish colours.

thank you gog.

keep the sierra coming :)

i wanted to like this, but there's one puzzle that KEEPS cropping up over and over and over again and it absolutely destroys any kind of immersion the game had going.

You should scan and share them with us, if you don't mind and think it could be interesting. :)
Isn't this a Windows 3.1 game or something?
