The Norse remember.

Vikings - Wolves of Midgard, a brutal action-RPG drenched in the bloody Norse mythology, is available now for pre-order, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 15% pre-order discount.

When gods go to battle, all us mortals can do is hope for the least cruel to emerge victorious. But not the proud Viking warriors of the Ulfung clan - no, they are determined to interfere. After the monstrous Jotan trample on their village in their march against the Gods of Asgard, the so-called Wolves of Midgard will take up arms and hunt the giants down, looking for revenge. Sacrificing your enemies' blood to the Gods will give your Viking warrior of shieldmaiden incredible powers as will the Gods' amulets, that you can find in your travels through this cold, unforgiving land. Going against the Jotan is no easy feat, though, and the assistance of a fellow warrior in co-op mode might go a long way towards defeating these oversized bastards.

Pre-order Vikings - Wolves of Midgard and get ready to defy Ragnarok and restore your clan's name, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 15% discount will last for the duration of the pre-order period.

Been a good time for ARPG's on GOG recently and in general. Price is very high. Lets hope this one comes off a winner. As others have said the fact that it is from Kalypso gives me great pause and reason to wait on this game.

I'm always cautious of games from Kalypso and Stardock for good reason; massive bugs, poor reviewed games, overpriced, large amounts of DLC, shallow game mechanics and kudos to Gog for allowing me to speak my consumer mind.

The fact they want your pre-order money already for a game that is unknown gives me even less confidence. I just can't see why anyone would actually really want to do it as I only see a disadvantage of not waiting until this hits and examining the game for oneself before buy.

Edited to add more explanation.

micktiegs_8: Looks awesome! Time to do some research and hope there's actual info on the game, unlike Hybrid Wars.

Wow, that seemed like a bundle of emotion right there. How ya feeling?

petitmal: Even if it IS a bundle of emotion. I really wonder what is triggering you to post this response...

On topic: good games deserve good prices, imo. Launch sales actually show the publishers and devs having little faith in their work.
I'm confused as to why you chose me of all people to query over a light-hearted response as opposed to other people who do it on a daily, possibly hourly.
Reminds me of Icewind Dale.

Painted_Doll: Well i don't see any pre-order bonus like the one on Steam :

From the linked page:

"Early adopters can secure themselves a 15% discount for Vikings – Wolves of Midgard along with an exclusive pack containing an additional outfit for both male and female warriors, consisting of an additional tattoo, hairstyle and clan symbol, as well as a new beard style for male characters and tribal jewelry for female characters. Also included is a digital art book showcasing a range of stunning illustrations and paintings, and a digital soundtrack featuring the game's sweeping, atmospheric musical score. "

But on GOG only the 15% discount is mentioned...

I'm not a fan of in-game exclusives, but if the Steam version has them, the GOG version should, too.

And the artbook and soundtrack are nice incentives, especially since what we hear in the trailer sounds good, and considering soundtracks often go for $10+ these days.

So, GOG, why aren't we getting these things?

Anyone with a social media account want to ask the devs about it?

Oh look. Another game that could've been awesome in local co-op. But of course it's online only, because why sell one game when you can sell two. Sigh.
Looks interesting, wishlisted for now
If we can expect anything from devs of this game is story and narrative based single player ARPG with UI and battle system as a mix of TQ and Sacred. I hope Kalypso won't mess with these guys as bitcomposer did before.
Kalypso? Extreme caution advised. Remember Omerta.

What was so bad about that game? Never got around buying that one, but looked somewhat interesting.

From what I recall, Omerta was still really buggy when the devs started releasing over-priced DLC for the game.
Games Farm makes good games, but what happened to Shadows: Book II?
Looks like Titan Quest with a Viking skin. Anyway, quite delicious :)

Leucius: Games Farm makes good games, but what happened to Shadows: Book II?
As far as I know, there was a plan to release Book II half year after the first book came out. However, the bankruptcy of bitComposer, their former publisher, had put a halt on developing the second part of Shadows. When Vikings- WoM was announced, Game Farm said that working on the game is helpful for them in making the Book II for Shadows. If it will be released, I don't know, sadly.

anothername: How diverse is character creation? Background artwork lets assume female protagonist; screens looks not like it. Free creation or wangfest?
The last screenshot shows a female protagonist (and the third one probably too). Also there's one in the trailer during the co-op part (0:53).
