The Norse remember.

Vikings - Wolves of Midgard, a brutal action-RPG drenched in the bloody Norse mythology, is available now for pre-order, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 15% pre-order discount.

When gods go to battle, all us mortals can do is hope for the least cruel to emerge victorious. But not the proud Viking warriors of the Ulfung clan - no, they are determined to interfere. After the monstrous Jotan trample on their village in their march against the Gods of Asgard, the so-called Wolves of Midgard will take up arms and hunt the giants down, looking for revenge. Sacrificing your enemies' blood to the Gods will give your Viking warrior of shieldmaiden incredible powers as will the Gods' amulets, that you can find in your travels through this cold, unforgiving land. Going against the Jotan is no easy feat, though, and the assistance of a fellow warrior in co-op mode might go a long way towards defeating these oversized bastards.

Pre-order Vikings - Wolves of Midgard and get ready to defy Ragnarok and restore your clan's name, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 15% discount will last for the duration of the pre-order period.

micktiegs_8: Looks awesome! Time to do some research and hope there's actual info on the game, unlike Hybrid Wars.
avatar
Zoidberg: Looks OK, but still the best idea to wait for release and reviews.

What's annoying is that the sale price is always for the preorder period, it's never a launch price.

To me it shows how little faith they have in their work.

Also, "PC MAC Linux"... when will they learn that Mac OS and Linux are OS that run on PCs? It should read "Windows MacOS Linux". Sorry but it really grinds me. :P

Oh... what a preposterous regional pricing! More than 9 euros excedent?! Wow! Yeah, screw them then...

micktiegs_8: Wow, that seemed like a bundle of emotion right there. How ya feeling?
Even if it IS a bundle of emotion. I really wonder what is triggering you to post this response...

On topic: good games deserve good prices, imo. Launch sales actually show the publishers and devs having little faith in their work.

Well i don't see any pre-order bonus like the one on Steam :

anothername: That on the other hand looks like something I really want to see; thanks for sharing! :)
You're welcome .

anothername: Nobody knows anything about character creation; not even one of the devs or some other involved wants to take the chance to either brag about how great female/male PCs will be or how great it will be that it has none?

... ehhh.. I'll watch it from afar.

adaliabooks: Well according to the blurb:

Sacrificing your enemies' blood to the Gods will give your Viking warrior of shieldmaiden incredible powers as will the Gods' amulets,

You seem to be able to choose Male or Female at least...
Looks like a Diablo-like Hack'n'Slash kind of thing, which isn't necessarily bad.
Looks like that is right; from the pro-order bonus from the steam page Painted_Doll linked:

Early adopters can secure themselves a 15% discount for Vikings – Wolves of Midgard along with an exclusive pack containing an additional outfit for both male and female warriors, consisting of an additional tattoo, hairstyle and clan symbol, as well as a new beard style for male characters and tribal jewelry for female characters.

Unintentionally answered my current main question of that game; thanks again :)

Wolves of Midgard looks interesting, but not "Throw $34 at the screen and hope for the best" interesting. Games Farm's previous snoozer of an action-RPG, Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms was rather bad compared to better diablo clones like Grim Dawn and Path of Exile. I'll have to sit this one out and see what the reviews say.

CharlesGrey: Maybe that's just me, but I've looked at the screenshots and read the description, yet I still have no idea what kind of game this is going to be. Is it just Hack&Slash? I didn't see any inventory, or character development screens, nor any info about gameplay mechanics.
avatar
Breja: Exactly what I thought. The setting is to my liking, but what the hell is it actually? How can the game's page AND the news about the pre-order offer no information about how the gameplay whatsoever?

It is an ARPG which also have gamepadsupport. Looks nice...in my opinion.
The artwork looks like a Vikings ripoff.

Screenshots look mildly interesting but they lost me with that Steam exclusive bonuses.

Siegor: Time to ragnarok and rol!

... I'll show myself out.
for this, we'll dig out the keyboard cat

amund: Looks interesting, seems like it's been viking trend of late both on TV and in the gaming world.

Painted_Doll: Forget that shitty western TV series .

Thanks, will check it out.

same

and...

adaliabooks: A little bit pricey, but it does look nice and I do love Vikings... probably wishlist for now and keep an eye on it.
same. I really hope its good, but I'll not preorder, been burned too many times the past few years (Fallout 4 and No Man's Sky to name a couple). I'm going to start limiting my pre-orders. I thought Fallout 4 was a safe bet, but wow what garbage.
Thank you for sharing these. The RPS Preview is especially telling. I'm very concerned to say the least. No good and unpredictable loot drops, no classes, "tidy" progression, and timing and dodging are the key combat mechanics. Uff da. This, most unfortunately, may not be a game for me. Calling this game an ARPG seems like a stretch.
avatar
adamhm: Looks very interesting, but the teaser trailer and the game's Steam store page both list Linux (and Mac), while GOG's store page only mentions Windows. Is this going to be yet another cross-platform game that is missing its Linux/Mac versions here?
Same here...i would like to know.

Already re-bought AOW3,Master of Orion and Grand Age Medieval on Steam because Linux is missing on GOG /:
high rated
And here's a reason to not support this developer. Steam Pre-Order Exclusive in-game items, Soundtrack and Art Book. These are not mentioned at all on the GOG Store page, so we'll most likely not get them here. I hate it when publishers do this, another case of DRM Free gamers being treated as second-class gamers. And I had a lot of hopes that Kalypso was changing into one of the good guys.

Maybe they'll add those to the gog pre-order later on, unlikely, but it could happen.
*Yeah right, who am I kidding :P*

To be honest though, this is reason enough for me to just ignore this game/ publisher completely.
Who knows, the game might be fun, but being treated like second class customers because of the platform is just wrong.

Edit: On second thought, these things will probably be among the goodies if you pre-puchased the game.

At least the Norse remember it is Jotun, not Jotan.... drenched in mythology?
Looks nice, I like the Vikings setting. However, with all the DLC rubbish lately, I'm pretty much done with pre-orders.
Does anyone know the game's DLC policy?
