I think it might have been Xenon 2 or Prince of Persia, not sure which one was older...
Good ol' VGA. Lovely.
do genesis games count?
Chuckie Egg (1983) on the Sinclair specturm. The game ROM came with the 'Speculator' emulator I bought so that does count as owning I will presume. The game is still really fun to play and there is a free flash version if you fancy a go: http://www.repton3.co.uk/chuckieegg.aspx

Hm, must have been Monkey Island 1 ... back in 1991 or so.

Neat thread. For me it depends how you count remasters/re-releases.

Midnight Resue! would be my oldest. It's an old Learning Company educational game from 1989.

I've also beaten Final Fantasy I on the GBA - it was originally released 1987 but the GBA version was released in 2004.

I've played older games - Zork I (1980), Wasteland (1988) - but never beat them.
Three 1989 games on CGA:

Prince of Persia
Golden Axe
Lakers versus Celtics and the NBA Playoffs
If we only count computer games then it would be Lure Of The Temptress from 1992, which I got here for free. Cute game, but nothing special.

I had a Famicon clone when I was a kid, so THE oldest games would be Super Mario Bros., Duck Hunt, Galaxian... I'm not sure what is the oldest from the bunch.
The oldest I remember beating are both from Atari 2600: Superman and Adventure.

EDIT: I don't own then anymore. In fact, I don't think I've owned an Atari for almost 30 years.

Ultima I: The First Age of Darkness / 1981
Completed a year ago or so ;)
Of games I still own... it would be a toss up,

Kings Quest which was released in 83 or 84
Or maybe Super Mario Bros which was released in 84 I think.
Space Invaders (Atari 2600).

Same here!

Oh, and I don't "beat" games, I finish them. It's about the experience - not competition.

Judicat0r: Space Invaders (Atari 2600).

.
You beat Space Invaders? I honestly didn't even know that was possible. Beside, many of the games of that era, even if actually possessing a final level, are so difficult to beat that literally only a handful of people on earth have ever done it.

"Oldest Game You Own You've Beaten"

You specify 'game', and not 'video game' or 'computer game'.....so golf? Or solitaire?

Alright, alright! Before thinking about it in depth, King's Quest (1983) is the oldest game I've beaten (And I only needed one hint, for the "riddle" that everyone knows is inexcusable!).

I've been trying to beat Scott Adams' Adventureland (1978) since I was a kid. I refuse to resort to hints, but I haven't give up yet. I just started my first playthrough of Zork (1980), so if I ever complete it, that would elbow out King's Quest, unless I remember an even older game that I have completed.
Frak:)

It doesn't have a final stage. The end of the game is the invasion the earth. The Atari version came with variations like moving barriers, blinking aliens and stuff and I recall playing all of them. :D
