I know, I know, you're right. It's just that I really love Mouth of Madness, I think it's one of the most unique and clever films I've seen, and I've never understood what people see in Big Trouble. Must be something you need to be on the right "wavelength" to get, sort of like how for me Ninja III: The Domination was superbly entertaining, but many people would turn it off 15 minutes in and call it utter dreck.

I revisited an old classic again, "Three Days of the Condor". A traditional spy movie from 1974 with Robert Redford as main protagonist.
Still amazing, how effective it was in keeping up the suspense and the motives of its figures in the shadows. And the low-fi tech of its era is always chilling for me.

Which other or more recent more cerebral spy movie would you recommend?

One that happens to be quite good as well, is "Tinker, Taylor, Spy" with Gary Oldman.

Recently saw Serenity (the 2019 Matthew McConaughey movie, not the 2005 Firefly follow-up). The trailer that played in the theaters at the time intrigued me:

You might enjoy Reign of Fire, also with Matthew McConaughey, plus Christian Bale and Gerard Butler before they became super famous, as well as a beautiful Polish actress and a bunch of dragons. I hope you like it.

I agree. I had a blast watching the movie, although from a D&D perspective I had a lot of issues/questions, like "Why does the main character - the bard - never cast a spell or do any buffs or heals? Well he did unlock a door at the beginning with magic but that was like one spell for one second.
Anyway, kudos to them for making a really decent and fun D&D movie. I hope they make a sequel.

It's a low-budget B-rated movie from 1993, but if you want a good cyberpunk movie, I recommend "No Resistance". It's still in print and you can find a copy online somewhere. Great movie. It was shot on a $7,500 budget, but it's extremely well done, and more true to the Steve Gibson novels.

It's only available on blu-ray, and it definitely has that VHS quality to it, but it's a great movie IMHO.
