Happy Eid sir! Thank you for sharing.

I saw ants had come inside,
"I'll get bug spray!" said my bride,
One bit her and so she cried,
All she did was run and hide.

True story
I hope you and anyone else celebrating have a wonderful festival! :D Thanks for the genrous giveaway! +1

I'm not usually good at making poems, but I got curious and tried to make one so here is my entry for the giveaway:

On this dark night I feel weak
It is shelter that I seek
Crawling forward, all seems bleak
Life is ending, hear my shriek
Not in, but thanks for the Giveaway!
Not only you show your generosity, but also you show us some interesting things from other cultures of the world and make poets out of us. :)

babark: Cool entries so far! I'm expecitng a lot of fun reading :D

doctorsinister: Wa alaykumu as-salam
and Happy Eid to you.
I am in.

My tanaga,
In times of war, children will die
distraught and helpless, mothers will cry
politicians will offer sympathies, being ever so sly
and people will say and wonder, God abandoned us but why
avatar
babark: And to you, doc, but your entry has more than 7 syllables each line!

greeklover's did too, but I guess the sex he had went from being great to kinky :D
oh i see

Here is my updated tanaga,

In times of war, children will die
distraught and helpless, mothers will cry
politicians offer sympathies, being ever so sly
we wonder, God abandoned us but why
Gifting games is very nice
You have two, then one costs twice
Not ev'ryone spends that price
That's a lot of bowls of rice.

Tooth and Tail is tales of mice
GTA is tales of vice
Vikings wander 'round in ice
Variety is life's spice

EDIT: added second stanza

It's syllables, not words. Some of yours have a LOT of syllables. Politicians is 4 by itself.

I look that cat on the table
and I watch a rich count fable

and a cow that drink milk stable.

Thinking of a latest song
Makes me want to push the gong
I will never wear a thong
Because that would just feel wrong

I'm in.
Good news is that even if we don't win anything this is a very fun giveaway to participate in and that is a good consolation prize. Reading what other wrote is a blast also. :)
Thanks, babark!
A mistful early morning
The gentle cow encounter
A vegetarian who sing
About a checkout counter

Lifthrasil: (second stanza)

Ashes of Malmouth looks nice
So I choose that as my prize
Or if too high is it's price
I'll take Requiem, with fries.
Your Tanaga's mostly lies
Which you tried hard to disguise
Though you know it was unwise
But too late to agonise.

You can't hide how much you drool
Though you try to play it cool
But you just look like a fool
Share those fries now, don't be cruel.

Deadline is not set by date
If you'd told us it'd be great
Else peeps might be far too late
And feel sorry for their strait

All the rules I did study
Yet one thing is still muddy
May I rhyme for a buddy
or you a fuddy-duddy?

Eid Mubarak, babark.

I'm in.

Quite a creative a generous giveaway you got.

Keep you in the dark you know
They all pretend to go low
But all of them go high, though
Jumping from their beds to show

How high the ceiling can go
About helmets they should know
As they all jump to and fro
But now, time was going slow

Thank you for the giveaway.
I'm in. Thank you for the challenge, usually I can't bring myself to do poetry unless someone else gives me a reason. I used a couple of sites to do syllable checks so hopefully it all turned out alright. I hope you like it. Critiques welcome.

a long night comes with darkness
part of my soul feels distress
the empty that needs address
but perhaps I shall digress

to fill out my hollow days
a variety of ways
wander through hearts thorny maze
to consume in a great craze

to help find truest meaning
on habits I am leaning
whatever I am gleaning
fore life starts intervening

to do all the things I meant
to not break but become bent
a shape that will not relent
a red purse of life well spent

English is not my native language, but I was so much inspired with this one that I'll try to help.

That's the way, as you can see!
More fun entries to go through! Keep 'em coming, and Eid Mubarak back at you all!
Watch out, though, some of the entries are still not valid! Remember, you need 7 syllables per line, and each 4 lines of a set must end in the same rhyme!

Since people started checking their number, I just used a few syllable check websites and some of them give wrong results, for example they count "she's" as two syllables. This site gave me correct count
