On this dark night I feel weak
It is shelter that I seek
Crawling forward, all seems bleak
Life is ending, hear my shriek

It's syllables, not words. Some of yours have a LOT of syllables. Politicians is 4 by itself.

I look that cat on the table
and I watch a rich count fable
he want to forgot a cable
and a cow that drink milk stable.

Thinking of a latest song
Makes me want to push the gong
I will never wear a thong
Because that would just feel wrong

I'm in. Thank you for the challenge, usually I can't bring myself to do poetry unless someone else gives me a reason. I used a couple of sites to do syllable checks so hopefully it all turned out alright. I hope you like it. Critiques welcome.

a long night comes with darkness
part of my soul feels distress
the empty that needs address

to fill out my hollow days
a variety of ways

Since people started checking their number, I just used a few syllable check websites and some of them give wrong results, for example they count "she's" as two syllables. This site gave me correct count
