Bang bang, you blast me down.

Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein - hard to imagine how FPSs would look today without these bad boys paving the way. Whether it's rocket-jumping in front of your friends' face or strafing to avoid making eye contact with a particularly nasty demon, everybody's fond memories are bound to include an awesome bit from the gory arenas of these celebrated id classics.

Now is the best time to brush up on your face-blasting skills - after all, you never know when you'll be called back into action...

The Bethesda shooter sale will last until August 28, 1 PM UTC.

Agreed! Løp og kjøp! :D

tripjack: Bethesda had NOTHING to do with any of these games. That shit company could make videogames for another hundred years and they'd still never come close to making a masterpiece of the same caliber as Doom or Quake
Sry to burst your bubble, but they already did - it's called Morrowind.

mistermumbles: Not very good, frankly. It really feels like amateur hour, especially after having played Doom 2. I've played better and more fun user mods than Final Doom.
avatar
Random_Coffee: That's a shame.. I might pick it up anyway, to complete my DOOM collection, and I'm sure there are some decent levels in there anyway. By the way, are the Master Levels included?
Oh, yes they are. Taken from the store description.

The highly anticipated sequel to DOOM, this GOG release brings not only DOOM II, but the expansions, “Master Levels of DOOM” and “Final DOOM”.
Kind of funny how these games are now Bethesda's timeless shooters. When in reality, Bethesda at the time was churning out really buggy games. I remember I couldn't even play arena because it crashed immediately almost. I think it was very hard to install too, as in it took some tricks.

Det skal han absolut gjøre. Quake er en fantastisk, tidløs klassiker.
Final Doom isn't really amateurish as it features levels and designs far more advanced in mapping quality and difficulty than these originals ever had (Evilution has new music tracks too). Also it spawned many TNT-ish and Plutonia style inspired wads and sequels even, especially TNT: Revilution, Plutonia 2, Plutonia: Revisited. Master Levels for Doom2 are far worse than these two iwads that consist of third part of Classic Doom trilogy (UD, D2, FD).

Siannah: Sry to burst your bubble, but they already did - it's called Morrowind.
Ahahahahahahahahahaha
Sorry but hahahahahahahahahaha
Dude, play some real RPG's like Baldur's Gate, the original Fallouts, Dragon Age Origins, Gothic 1-2, Planescape Torment or even the old Ultimas to learn what actual masterpieces in the RPG genre are.
Because this pathetically written "game" with it's empty void of a world, copy & paste scenery, dumb ai, lame characters, repeating quests and all the other typical Crapthesda Flaws sure isn't.
Back then compared to Gothic 2 it looked like a massive joke that should've been released on April 1st. Heck, Ultima IX is a (very, very slightly) better game than that abomination.

You're entitled to your opinion, no matter how ill informed and quite simply bad an opinion it is.
You mostly compare apples to oranges until you get to the painfully mediocre games that are the Gothic series and that's being generous.
Gothic 2 better than Morrowind!?
I can't take you seriously if you actually believe that.
IMO Gothic 2 is all time classic... morrowind is "bland meh". (I played morrowind for 7 days before uninstalling it, G2 played through twice) ... but even if it would be comparable to G2 (IMO no, not even close), saying that Morrowind is somehow relatively close to DOOM or Quake1 ... that's plain ridiculous. Those were THE games when they came out, while Morrowind was just another scrolls chapter, and not even as revolutionary as Daggerfall was to Arena, actually there were lot of people claiming Daggerfall was better (I can't comment on that, didn't play Daggerfall yet).

They really should put the expacks up higher on the page instead of buried in the descriptions, particularly since they're sold separately elsewhere. I would have passed completely by Quake, were it not for the fact that someone in here posted that the two expacks (Scourge of Armagon” and “Dissolution of Eternity") were included.

I have no opinion about this all, but I do note that he mentioned a bunch of other games than Gothic 2 and that he had a list of fairly specific gripes with Morrowind that you did not address at all. As an outside observer it would be interesting to hear your(and others) opinion about those gripes and their (lack of?) validity and/or relevance.

Sorry, man, but this is just your opinion and there are several problematic statements in your post.

- Just because you didn´t like the game, doesn´t mean somebody other does not. I enjoyed both back in their time.
- Comparing Morrowind with Quake or any other shooters is comparing apples and oranges - they´re completely different genres.
- "Those were THE games when they came out, while Morrowind was just another scrolls chapter, and not even as revolutionary" - not true. Game had high anticipation back in 2002, because it was 7 years since the last game in this universe was made + it was first truly open world RPG ( first two Gothics were not) - I remember some people actually disliking the game back then because of that, because they weren´t used to roam freely across the land and felt lost in all the freedom game offered to them.
