Bang bang, you blast me down.

Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein - hard to imagine how FPSs would look today without these bad boys paving the way. Whether it's rocket-jumping in front of your friends' face or strafing to avoid making eye contact with a particularly nasty demon, everybody's fond memories are bound to include an awesome bit from the gory arenas of these celebrated id classics.

Now is the best time to brush up on your face-blasting skills - after all, you never know when you'll be called back into action...

The Bethesda shooter sale will last until August 28, 1 PM UTC.

Matewis: Well then, from one jobseeker to another, may our days soon be filled with unrealistic project deadlines and hot coworkers.
avatar
Falci: And unrealistic, but real, high salaries. ^_^
Absolute, that new gaming rig isn't going to pay for itself!

Bodgeit: Hello Impaler26

Can you redeem GoG codes in Germany, if they are for games you can't buy on the store, due to the ban's on them.
avatar
Impaler26: Yes, i can redeem gift codes for games like Wolfenstein etc. here in germany and i already own them. ;)

It's just a pity that those old games are still on the index.

avatar
Bodgeit: Impaler26, as I once got a free game off you, I would like to return the favour. I have enough on my balance to buy one of those ID games, except for Quake 3 Gold. Take your pick & I will get it as a code & PM it to you, if you are interested.
avatar
Impaler26: Thanks a lot for your kind offer but i already own all the ID games i want. ;)
You're Welcome :).

i_ni: Because you're some sort of scientist or artist?

The rules have been relaxed because officials believe that Doom is now only of artistic and scientific interest and will not appeal to youngsters - [BBC] Germany lifts Doom sales ban after 17 years
avatar
Tarhiel: Oh my port :D
Well, good for youngsters, now they can legally play it with Brutal Doom - and we are all back at square one :D
Yes indeed, I'm ready to (re)boot: "Doom" was that missing ingredient in my scientific career. (Full disclosure: I tried being an artist and I failed, for obvious reasons. Eyes wide shut, man, eyes wide shut.)
Now, call for papers!
I was hoping this sale would be, in part, to announce the release of the Quake Mission packs here (or even the Heretic / Hexen series). Soon, please?

Doom 3?
Quake 4?
Wolfenstein 2009/New Order?
Rage?

All of the above?
Ooh, I hadn't even noticed that part. It does sound like a release tease, so here's hoping!

As for the sale, I already own and have finished everything there, so new stuff would be more than welcome. :-)

*grumbles into beard about banned games and Germany*

Layered on top of having recently bought Rest of the World codes for Wolfenstein: New Order and its sequel (for Stean), and then discovering that not only would I need to use my VPN to install the games, I would need to use it any time I actually want to play the games.

Its nearly enough to make me want to pirate games I actually own just so I can play them.

So you've played all of Doom's mods and wads? Cool.

Not nearly all of them, but I did play a good chunk of 'em back in the day, as well as many Quake and Quake 2 mods. There's still some on my bucket list to try out like Hocus Doom, and Blade of Agony which I recently learned about. ;)
Bethesda had NOTHING to do with any of these games. That shit company could make videogames for another hundred years and they'd still never come close to making a masterpiece of the same caliber as Doom or Quake

Concerning Quake: ...Which is why it has that weird "The Offering" bit added to the title.

Unfortunately, no Heretic or Hexen games were included in that package. :P

Ah, thanks. Silly me, I looked in the "Goodies" instead of reading the description. I'll definitely grab this then. Cheers!
Own evrything except Quake, wich i dont want.
Still waiting for Doom 3

Will pick up Quake 1 but not at this time
avatar
Random_Coffee: I've played through Doom 1 & 2 hundreds of times, but how's Final Doom?
avatar
mistermumbles: Not very good, frankly. It really feels like amateur hour, especially after having played Doom 2. I've played better and more fun user mods than Final Doom.
That's a shame.. I might pick it up anyway, to complete my DOOM collection, and I'm sure there are some decent levels in there anyway. By the way, are the Master Levels included?

Man, those mods look impressive.
