PixelBoy: 1) While I agree that sometimes the forum seems to have too many messages about celebrity deaths that have no connection to gaming, in this case there is a very strong connection to gaming.

In fact most of Sokal's games are even available on GOG. And from what I have understood, there is at least one game in some stage of production, so this is relevant information even considering the future of Syberia series.

2) If you re-read the OP, it is actually as neutral a message as it can possibly be. It doesn't have any "RIP", or "it's a great loss" comments, it simply reports what has happened.

So I could understand you getting annoyed by some other messages on the forum, but I believe there's nothing to be triggered about in this. It's neutral and informative, and it is undoubtedly connected to games, even good old games, if you will.
Yep the op was neutral.
People die all the time, should there be a new topic for everyone died who is gaming development related?
And what if someone is missed, that would be rude.

kohlrak: He's just upset 'cause no one cared about his new skin in CS:GO... He's taking it out on people in this thread, 'cause no one cares about his melodrama, either. Eventually, he'll get back to actually playing games, but he's gotta get his frustration out of his system, first. Then someone will knife him in the back again and he'll be right back here getting his frustration out, 'cause he's got no chill.
You are just trolling as usual. Ironic how you ask for more tact for this topic.

ShadowWulfe: Wow.

So young. I guess it may be time to finally get into Syberia.
While I agree with his loss being tragic, did we really came to 60's being considered young?

Anyway, although I don't like point and click adventures, I have found first Syberia to be a charming game. Hope you'll like it.

Lol, my perception of age is tainted by (American) Medicare.

65 is considered the start of government provided health insurance/care and "maybe consider" retirement.

Will still try the games out.

sebarnolds: He created wonderful games even though they lack a bit on the game design. But the world / stories were great.
Walkthough at hand, I plan to replay the first Syberia games and the third for the first time, and have a look at the rest of his ludography like the Amerzone.
As you say, his game design had many of the flaws of the genre but the fascinating worlds he created well compensate for that.
This is the Community Wishlist entry for his missing (on GOG) game Paradise (2006).

It's always sad to see anyone pass away and especially so when they are related to games that gave you such enjoyment.

RIP Benoît Sokal.
.
Sad news, I liked the games of his that I've played, Syberia 1 & 2 especially.

huppumies: Well that sucks. I quite liked the Canardo comics.
they were not a thing in Italy but as I see they have a German edition I'm gonna look for a volume now.
I played Amerzone just recently. It was surprisingly good. Sad that Benoît Sokal died, and sad that he won't make more stuff, but at least he left us the works that a lot of people love.
R.I.P. - He created some of the most beautiful pont and click games I've ever played.

Does this mean the end for Syberia 4 so that the story will remain unfinished?

Syberia - The World Before was scheduled for 2021 so it had to be at a point were the story at least is finished so it will probably get released.

That is at least some comfort. This way we might still cherish, enjoy and honor his final work. Fingers crossed that your assumprions are correct.
