Big changes are here.

My Account is the heart of your GOG.com experience. It's the one place that's 100% yours, and the place you always go to download your games and manage the entire library.
Starting today, your My Account is completely new - remade and redesigned from scratch to better support our growing library of games and many of your biggest requests. Aside from every usability fix we could think of, we've also introduced brand new tools to keep your library organised, and new social features to stay in touch with your friends.

The list of new features is long, but you can see the whole thing on our forums. The most important highlights include:

--Support for friends lists and chat.
--Shared wishlists.
--Advanced filtering and custom tags for your library.
--A new, detailed order history.
--Accessible game changelogs.

We're sure that these new changes will greatly improve your overall user experience on GOG.com, and we can't wait to hear what you think on the wishlist and right here in the comments!

jalister: In my experience GOG has no revert options at all. I believe that once they implement new code, they put the old code through the shredder so they can't go back. Maybe the new web guys are afraid that management will see the mess they published, and request to go back to what was good.

Thrawn.776: My question was rather rethorical. They seem to don't give a wooden penny lately about what the people want/need.
I have to agree with you. I've felt this way since the last round of site "improvements". Unfortunately (or should that be fortunately) GOG is still the best source of DRM free games.

Which games do have a changelog visible by now?

gamesfreak64: you said the magic word:
I guess GOG are trying to reduce load.
if you browse the forum theres a lot of talk and sometimes they complain a lot of GOG beiing slow, [..]
The probable cause being the graphics (or script or other things), but usually they always blame it on graphics.
Graphics are static content which is cached locally. They have to be downloaded only once and usually have not to be re-downloaded again. So starting from the 2nd time you access a page graphics only have a minor effect on page speed.

What makes the site slow is the heavy use of scripting.

Thrawn.776: You should not change sth good to sth mediocre.

OK, you've done some changes (again). Where's the button to revert the library to the old look??????

DCT: there isn't one nor is there planned to be one. It doesn't make sense for them to run and maintain two different sets of user accounts, it's probably to much work and to much money to please what at this time seems like a vocal minority.
They could save more money by not doing needless changes to the site. What is this, microsoft.com?

viperfdl: Hmmm, I got a friend request from someone called Doodys. Never heard of that one. Must have clicked accidentally on me.

yyahoo: Don't be so sure. I think people are anticipating that Friends will be the new Rep and are trying to stock up early...
Interesting assumption. And I can't even send a PM to find out who that person is.

+ Kerbal Space Program, the only one I've seen so far. Lol
im old and dont like change... also i hate to be social. and while not being optimal before, its even worse now that i have to click thru submenus to see the Serial/Key and/or check if there is a serial for the game.
so please

-add option to get the old shelf graphics back (original cover,background,..)

-set every privacy option to "nobody" default

-let me see the Serials/CD-Keys on the first page after clicking on the game or make something very obvious to see if the game comes with a key.

+ SanctuaryRPG: Black Edition (obviously).
I have to say, I liked the "all wood" theme it had before. Looks too damn gray now if you ask me. Is there a theme modifier somewhere that I didn't notice yet?

Wouldn't it be cool if it looked like a used game store? You get the side of the box, you click on it and you take the box out and can see the front and back of the box? And it could even be all wrinkled and decayed with age.

considering how many games they got on the site, the number of active accounts and the ammount of games per account. I really don't think it wasn't unnesscarry since I would think the old "virtual shelf" was starting to be a pain and probley was starting to become a bit of a drag on the servers as more and more people started getting accounts and more and more games were on those shelves since I know it took forever for mine shelf of 609 games to load in and I got a fairly fast connection, honestly while it was pretty to look at it wasn't viable at this stage of GOG's growth. Not saying that this is 100% the case since I don't know since I don't work on their site but it is in my experience that when you have something that image heavy it can be a drain.

If all else blame Barry and his shelf of just about every game released on GOG save for 3 or 4. It probably dragged things down the most(Just joking)

djdarko: Suggestions:
1. Rebundle the games so they are displayed one icon per purchased game with option to download singular or bundled.
The whole unbundling should have been done that way if it would have been thought through from the beginning. Unbundle the individual games (for Galaxy and individual download) but keep the structure of and the link to the purchased game bundles in the library, that would have been a much better solution.

Well, to be fair, at least they are saving money by NOT doing the necessary changes. =)
