torp: Hmm i died quite a few times during the prologue - playing on normal - but i managed to finish most of it without using potions or parry. Mainly because i didn't read the manual (to see how to meditate or parry) or check my inventory until the escape from prison part.

Mind, i've finished Demon's Souls. Twice. This is easier.
I did too, and DS is much easier.

I don't feel the game to be very laggy but I get 0.5 to 1 seconds delay when I fight (not when I move)

I could not escape from the castle. Pushing 'Y' (to stun) didn't worked (no action), the guard ended up turning back and I had to kill him, along with all the other ones.

And what with that stupid way to automatically go through some doors/passages ? If I want to turn back I end-up going forward.

I finally gave up. I play video games to have some fun, not to be frustrated by the broken ones. Luckily I bought 6 other games this 17 may. (Sadly Brink is one of them. Tell me about a bad pick).

I agree with the OP on almost every point. TW1 was extremely easy. But satisfying. TW2 is balls hard and frustrating as hell. I get no satisfaction out of completing a difficult fight on the 20th attempt. If I get it down on the 2nd or 3rd try I feel satisfied. By the 15th my knuckles are sore from punching my (thankfully durable) keyboard. There should have been a balance struck between TW1's combat and that in TW2 for I feel they made many improvements on the immersion of the combat but completely ignored the skill that the character was supposed to inherently possess. Now Geralt is only as skilled as the player is lucky and patient. As for the QTE's...I hate them except in the fistfights. They make for some satisfying scenes there.

XBOX controller? Just because it supports it... doesn't mean you should trust it :)
when i first started playing (with the 360 pad btw) i found it really bad, and i died very very often. fighting 3 people would make me die 5 times before i could eventually kill them. i now love the combat, i worked stuff our for myself and see what combinations work and what doesnt, and tbh after the prologue and once you spend some skill points the combats improves alot.
I find the whole combat system boring. Not hard, but plain boring. Due to not having anything unlocked, ALL you can do against groups of enemies is what someone mentioned, use aard, kill 1 quickly, then run like a headless chicken and kite them until your vigor replenishes. Is this truly a image worthy of a witcher?
In 1vs1 all you do is spam your mouse button like it's Diablo until enemy blocks then either block back or dive and repeat. And if you can't be bothered, roll behind his back and finish the battle in 3 hits.
I did not quit nor complain until I was certain I couldn't find out any other tactic, but it seems to me this is ALL you can do at the beginning and it's outright disappointing.
Even Assassin's Creed, a game they copy/pasted lots of their combat mechanics, had more interesting moves to add to combat. And I assume we'll have it here as well as unlockables at higher levels, but I can hardly see how will that make the game more interesting.

It seems to me that the message devs are sending is, Geralt can no longer win battles by using his sword skill, because it's not superior to anyone else. Rather than that, he must use magic and bombs in order to win. Umm, did he really need to become a witcher then? Anyone can win like that.

I also find tutorial notes completely worthless. I can't figure out how to armwrestle, or to be more precise, how to move the bloody thing along the yellow bar. Tutorial only says I need to move it, and game manual says by using mouse. Do I move the mouse, do I click buttons? Really CD RED? Really?
Pretty much, any tutorial notes INGAME are worthless, and game manual is not far.

Oh and also, I was the biggest fan, but this game REEKS of console. You did a masterful job at spinning tales of PC platform first bla bla, no compromise bla bla. I see compromises being made in every aspect of the game. Dialogs like in ME, where Geralt is saying completely different things from what I chose, or inability to understand what does the option mean. I'm not getting further into this, but I bloody SEE what you did there.

djenkins: I agree with the OP. Combat is too difficult right off the start, TW1 eased you into it a little. TW2 has no tutorial, it just throws 5 enemies at you from the very start. It's more click spam like diablo than TW1 where it was more tactical, the stances were much more artful and also a lot less player skill oriented and a lot more Geralt's skills oriented. Worse it's boring. Run away, run away, run away, turn around, use sign, whack whack, run away, run away, run away......

That last battle in the temple courtyard is just brutal. You have no room to cast signs or place traps and there's 7(?) enemies. Took me about 20 tries, too many tries it was a lot more frustrating than rewarding.

I think a lot of the problem is the tight third-person camera, restoring TW1's overhead tactical camera would be a major improvement. I'm constantly getting stuck on walls and everything feels so much more frenetic ( and not in a good way ) because I have so much less situational awareness.

The QTEs suck. Plain and simple. Who on Earth has ever liked QTEs? Really, click the left mouse button as fast as you can to crank the ballista? That's fun? That's immersive?

I also dislike the camera change for a finishing move, TW1 you retained your camera control, you just lot control of the character while he did his thing. TW2 feels like they were so excited to show you their finishing moves they made them their own little mini-movies, a separate portion of the game not directly related to the combat.

The UI is so poor and console oriented it's difficult to use signs or items effectively. Did any of the devs play using a keyboard & mouse? I think they were so excited to release this on consoles they must have only played with joysticks. Keys 3 is next sign and 4 is next item, no previous cycling, so I have to go all the way around to get to the previous sign? No mouse wheels support at all?!?! I'd love a hotkey bar on the bottom of the screen just so I could remember what keys maps to what signs & items. Oh, I'm sure I'll remember the keys for all the signs eventually but they're not even remotely intuitive. Using the 5-9 keys for a sign casts it immediately instead of selecting it, boy does that reek of joystick carryover. No using an item key directly from a pocket without cycling through it to select it first.

I sure hope the non-combat portion of the game lives up to the hype because right now, I'm pretty disappointed.
