cgdiscus: All i get is the wolfs head. Nothing I have done has worked to get the game to launch.
I have this very same problem, been trying to fix it all day. has anyone figured out how to fix this yet? I used the payed for CD though to download. I finished downloading the intire thing, got through all the steps the game launcher comes up but when I click the "Launch Game" option I get nothing but the wolfs head.

thekingcasper would it be too awkward if I told ya I loved ya? haha ty for help I have started the game, and the launcher is working fine, now do you have any suggestions to help with how slow the cut scenes are, atm for me its as if they are a slide show not a acual cut scene, the voicing is similair as well. any advice to fix this?
The game crashes when I click "Launch Game":

I am having the same problem since Tuesday. Launcher does not launch the game. I have downloaded this game 4 times now on wired and wireless connection. I get the same error on patcher "installed game version is invalid or incomplete" Yes I install with UAC off, firewall off, antivirus disabled (Windows 7 64bit). I even redownloaded the latest gog downloader and tried.

I'll never buy another game from gog. I have bought 50 or so games from steam and never had a problem.

Mine does the same.
Running a single gpu 4870
E8400 duo core cpu.

First time downloading the game through the gog downloader, it said 100 % but would not install, some error. so i changed the download path, then back to its original folder to make it re hash over the files. then it made it to 100% and i installed the game fine. But now its installed and registerd. I click launch game and it pops up with the wolf head, starts up the window, then closes :(
i have read all the fix's
uac turned off and reset pc.
windows mode.
native on this monitor goes only upto 1080. so i didnt have to lower it. (tryed all res's tho)
changed my desktop res.
windowed mode.
ccc settings with everything set to Application-Controlled in ccc.
Im going abit mental, my only day off and i cannot get this game to run, anyone know a hotfix so i dont have to wait for a patch next week?
Was your antivirus/security program turned off during the install?
The only one i had running was
Microsoft secruity essentials, it didnt pick up anything, i just checked the history.
will reinstall with it off and see how i go. will post an update in awhile
Still not working ARHHHH :(

So it looks like i have to wait for a game patch to come out >_> think they would have been ontop of this befor release, im seeing this more and more

When you say that it downloaded but wouldn't install do you mean that when you clicked on the install button that it wouldn't go through the process or some other error? I downloaded the game with the gog downloader and then had to find setup_the_witcher_2 file before it would work correctly. I'm just wondering if changing the download path and transferring the files had an effect on your install, so maybe trying to install it without moving the files around could work. Also - did you run the downloader and the setup as the administrator? You said you turned the uac off - I've never turned it off, so if there's still an option to run as administrator you can try that too.

I don't have an ATI card though and I didn't have this problem - so this might not even be close to helping - I'm sorry you're going through this. The most I had to go through was disabling the 3d vision driver for Nvidia, which was aggravating at the time since there weren't any posted fixes for getting 3fps in the game.

Good luck to you! And once you get this fixed your card is going to make this game look great!

Cheers for the reply Ooman87.
When i used the gog downloader and it wouldnt install. I too had to chase up the setup_the_witcher_2 file befor it would work, but when i clicked on the installer. it said cannot install , try and re download. so i just moved the download path away, then back. so it would rescan over the file for the missing files. so i didnt realy move any files. I did not try and right click the installer and run as admin tho. mmm but the game installed and has a launcher. makes me think it wouldnt make a diffrence :( i dunno its a tricky one :P
Hope the new patch to come helps it out.

thx again for your post mate. hope the 4870 does ok :P gonna upgrade the pc once diablo 3 gets closer, if it gets closer :P
