Who else wants to avoid calling it Witcher 2 when the game abruptly ends only when it starts going somewhere? Now we have to wait 2-4 years to find out an inkling of what our choices did.

Same here, it appears as if they simply forgot to include Chapter 4. Because an end it ain't. It doesn't even conclude half the plot lines they set up, are we supposed to remember these in x years?. And while the Story is extremely interesting, this ending is definitely one of the low points of endings in rpg gaming. There isn't even a definite cliff-hanger, nothing was concluded - in many ways not even the main plot (Assassins of Kings) although we got some details out of Letho...

I really did enjoy getting to the end but i wish the game would have stopped an hour later, an hour spent on properly concluding what happened so far.

Or maybe, we just ought to send CDPR a Thesaurus where they can check what the word Epilogue means.

Epilogue
A short addition or concluding section at the end of a literary work, often dealing with the future of its characters.

they are not finished :D. they are going to make it either dlc or an expansion/ new game

they released what they had because they wanted out money :D

they just never finished so they polished up what they had (console testing version was furthest along.)

Kinda depressed, ive played through 3 times and yet ... i cant bring myself to play it anymore until DLC or something comes out. Playing to that part and then not knowing exactly what happened is driving me crazy.

I dub it Withcher 1 expansion #1 given the brevity of the game...
Just how long in hours is this game? I read one review saying it was long.

brevity? Its not exactly a short game nor a short story, it just doesn't conclude any of its major quest lines properly and maybe worse, it doesn't set them up properly (The council for example comes completely out of the blue with NO detailed explanation). Often the relevant bits are in the quest log, but even then it reads like Dandelion is writing it
Ive beaten the game 3 times, skipping only the Dice and Wrestling quests, i get a good 12-16 hours out of it, atleast on easy, if on normal or hard, maybe a little more?

BS, rushing and skipping most everything you will get 20, most people 40 hours. On easy? Who plays games on Easy? Lots of content, exploring in this game.

12-16 hrs? Sorry I call BS. Thats like Olympic speed run time.
Just because you havent done it, doesnt mean its BS. There isnt that much content, majority of crafting is useless, most weapons you can find by the time you can craft, with a few exceptions that are good. Maybe 20 quests or less (with multiple stages) per each chapter. most quests make you go all over the maps too, so exploring is a given. I ust cant see a way to get more then 20ish hours out of it.

many have, because you havent done it doesnt make it so, take your own advice. Everyone I have on Steam is over 20 hours and are not finished. 12-16 hours is a major rush job.

It took me 38 hours to finish it on normal, and I didn't even complete a number of side quests I picked up, let alone those that I didn't even get. I've also seen many people asking questions on parts I never saw, possibly branches I never got access to due to to choices made.

Play time differs from individuals to individuals; I'd say my timing comes pretty close to what they promised. I also ready consider myself slower, since I believe the 40 hours people claimed the developer has said probably refers to the main plotline, but includes the multiple branch lines the story can take.

You only did the mainstory in those 38h ? because that is what they said for 40 hours.

Nope, I did mainly the main quest and took up some of the side quests, but did not finish a number of them. I'm usually the kind that will focus on side quests on subsequent run, but focus on the main during the first run cos I'm impatient getting to the end of the story.

I'm estimating that if I only do the main plot I'll run roughly about 25 hours or so. Since I'm only doing one of the main branch according to the game guide, taking both branches into consideration (from the game guide it seems like both will lead to quite different situations) I think it'd yield pretty close to the 40hr mark.

In comparison Steam says I played 47hrs on Witcher 1, and that's including completion of some of the mods included and a partial replay of the original campaign.
