Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know the game fully supports multiple graphics cards, specifically ATI cards in crossfire mode?
I have two 6950 and I found it so annoying that some many games launch with crossfire support.
I don't understand why developers don't work with ATI and Nvidia during development to make sure crossfire/SLI works properly.
I know it is not possible for all games but for big AAA PC releases like Witcher 2, you would have thought it is in the developers interests and the graphic card makers increases to make sure games a released that support all PC hardware.
Sorry, rant over :-)
Fingers crossed Witcher 2 runs great on my system.
One more day till W2 Day
Some people I talked to using crossfire and playing the game right now said it did not support it. They are only using 1 graphics card.
It doesn't support crossfire right now, but another poster in a different forum said that he plays at 30-40 FPS with all settings maxed except for uber sampling. With a single 6950 you can expect better performance, and when you do get to use two, you'll probably be able to handle the uber sampling as well.
Frankly it shouldn't be up to the developers to make it work. If SLI/Crossfire was done properly any game should work with it. I really hope the next generation of multi card setups is more seamless to developers/directX. I'm feed up with all that screen tearing and flickering unless there's specific support for it.

I agree about the profiles and flickering, but screen tearing is usually an easy fix.

As far as I know, there is already an SLI profile ready for Witcher 2 provided nvidia users have the latest drivers. As far as ATI, they dropped the ball again and no support on release. Definitely thinking I'm going green for my next GPU upgrade.

At least you can try forcing other crossfire profiles to see if there's some scaling without graphical glitches.

Dear hardware gods.

Please let this rain true, my SLI 460's want to work a little harder soon!
seriously crossfire isn't supported???? =[

It generally has nothing to do with the devs, it's up to AMD/Nvidia to release a profile for the game. I tend to agree there should be some sort of default or override option, but don't hate on the developer.
GOG said in one of these threads recently they used Crossfire with it and it scaled appropriately. Not sure if it's certified, optimized, etc., but there should be at least some benefit.

Yes, you are right. It should be like it was with the old 3dfx cards. If you have two cards in SLI mode, you will automatically get double performance in EVERY game.
Having to wait for new profiles or drivers for every new PC release to enable crossfire is so annoying.
Let hope AMD/NVIDIA and Microsoft can sit down and fix the problem for the next version of DirectX, which will probably be when Windows 8 is released.
Crossfire doesn't work for me and the game seems smoother with the second GPU disabled. I'm sure AMD will release some application profiles to fix it in 6 months or so. :(
I have HD 6990 which has two GPUs on one board but since I cannot play in full screen mode and have to use windowed mode I believe that Crossfire is disabled and am using only one core. Wonder if any other players have the same card and the same issue. Would love to be able to use both cores.
The game readme says that crossfire can cause problems, it also offers a couple of fixes for other issues people are posting incessantly about; common sense + 2 mins with the readme would save a shit load of pointless spam on forums.

Crossfire does seem to work according to the pic above ....top left corner is MSI afterburner on screen display ...

BUT I think it may be causing the game to be VERY blurry ....because that above pic is pretty much the highest graphics settings ....nothing is crisp..

Well..because people would like to use their hardware... most people like me probably cant max the games graphics without crossfire ... would be nice if it worked right ..

Both my GPUs would heat up and show a load but I got better FPS turning the second GPU off entirely.

But as I posted in this thread renaming the exe improved my fps a bit but I'm not sure if it has any negative consequences yet:
