Come on, GOG! Pretty much everything released lately is new stuff. I thought this was Good OLD Games. If you look at the release list...

Wargame: European Escalation
The Lords of Midnight
Spelunky
Papers, Please
Divinity: Dragon Commander Imperial Edition
Divinity: Dragon Commander
Jack Keane
Rise of the Triad
Penumbra Collection, The
Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Ittle Dew
InFlux
Brutal Legend
Settlers 4: Gold Edition, The

... it's not until Settlers 4 (a 2001 release) that we get a game that could actually be considered "old" at all. We can get all this new indie stuff and recent releases on Steam or anywhere else. We need us some Monkey Island, some original Theme Park (come on, you've got pretty much every other classic Bullfrog title!), some Mechwarrior games, Dune games, the original Alice, the original Blood Omen, etc.

I love you GOG, but I'm sick of looking for updates and just seeing new stuff. Give us some classics here.
"We have an action game that's full of gore,
an adventure from a dev we've not seen before,
a thundering great RPG and more:
a game inspired by a forever war,
ten years, fifteen, nearly a score(?),
these are the classics you're looking for."- The Enigmatic T Source

Great old classics are coming, TerrorK. :)

People, before you start getting angry at him, look at the rep. He probably haven't posted here before and might not know about GOG's change.

Now, GOG technically did away with their acronym, when they started selling new games back in ... was it 2012 or 2011? So this isn't technically Good Old Games. (I refer to it as GOG [formally Good Old Games] or GOG - the home of good old games and more.)

We will see some good old games coming soon. How long that "shower" will last, I cannot say.

Thanks. Yes, I've been with GOG for a while, but this is the first actual post I've made beyond a few review comments.

I knew about the GOG name "change" from an interview actually, but still... I come to this place to get classics from the past that are hard to get now and/or tend to be fussy on modern hardware, not to get new stuff (although I have, admittedly, got Fez, Botanicula and Giana Sisters Twisted Dreams from here... the latter of course because I was a fan of the Amiga original and Chris Huelsbeck's music).

I'm really hoping for the original Theme Park more than anything. I'd love to play it again. I've got Theme Park World and have played some of the others, but none quite capture the brilliance and magic of the original, IMO.

I can kind of relate to what you're saying, as I too am here to see classics released. Just realize that this can still be a very touchy issue around here, and can cause arguments. I cannot say for sure how often we will be getting classics in the far future (we'll be getting some in the coming months for sure), so I'd suggest this: adjust to the change of new games appearing, but if there hasn't been an old release in a while, don't be afraid to ask when we might see more classics appear. (Just be polite about it)

It's my understanding that Theme Park isn't here because of a resolution issue in DOSBox, but I have no evidence of this.

Wouldn't this be a "new OLD game" by definition?

I want more new games.
i prefer old games yes, but i would settle with real good games or good release. Looking at that list more then half aren't interesting...
I think GOG needs a balance, I have no problem with them releasing newer games to fill the empty slots for weekly releases, but we haven't had an old game release since Settlers 4 (if you count 2001 as old) NEARLY A MONTH AGO. I mean, damn, throw us a bone, I think many people imagined that GOG would try as hard as possible to burn the backlog of old games first AND THEN start moving more heavily into new games, but not this agonizingly drawn-out process of maybe 1 classic game a week if we're lucky. At this rate we'll all be in nursing homes by the time the old game backlog is finished.

I love this ^^, it's so cheesy, but I love it anyways. Oh, it's actually just GOG. It's been that way for quite some time.

This vaguely reminds me of the Porsche Cayenne SUV. The Internet went apeshit when that was first announced, but Porsche went on with the idea anyway. It didn't stop them developing sports cars, and in fact the Cayenne has been such a commercial success that I wouldn't be at all surprised if some of the profits get filtered down to sports car development.
I remember that PR person/CEO/someone from GOG said in an article that right now almost all old games are in a legal limbo, so they had to shift their focus on newer games while keep trying to get older ones.

I can't find the link but I would say that's the reason. I doubt GOG realized they need to sell only 2011+ games, just look at their best-selling list. They have gotten a majority of revenue from 2005-.

Just from the fact GOG is hiring so many people at the same time, I guess half of their staff got sacked / resigned and they don't have anything old to release.

Seriously, releasing only 2 games a week when there's virtually no work to prepare them to be released is insane.

I hate GOG's release schedule with all my heart.

That would be a total bullshit.

GOG still doesn't have a large portion of the games that are widely avaible on other sites, DRM Free. Gamersgate and DotEmu have a large portion of games GOG somehow doesn't have.

And what are the legal problems with Privateer 2 or Emperor: Rise of the middle kingdom, for example?

Gamersgate does use DRM. The fact that you can easily crack it doesn't make it magically DRM-free service.

Haven't we already discussed Emperor? I don't recall BreakAway Games made a deal with GOG. Do you have their statement that they are so ready to release it here?

As for DotEmu, I am not familiar with the shop but it has a couple of 2005+ titles I wouldn't mind seeing here and ask myself why they haven't been added.
