Blarg: X-Com has the best turn-based tactical system I've seen yet and is one of the only games I've ever played that is anything like actually "scary." I jumped many times at the appearance of an alien, and was horrified many times at the appearance of an alien that makes people into zombies at breakneck speed. Nooooooooo. ........

Chrysallids STILL friggin' scare me. They are the only aliens that I will level an entire map in order to avoid engaging directly. If I know there's one out there, and I don't have a visual, I won't send in my troopers to go look, I will simply bomb the HELL out of the area until that bastard goes down, damn any civvies who get caught in the blast radius.
Those things CREEP ME OUT.
