Can anyone tell me about Septerra Core? It looks really exciting to me, and somewhat reminiscent of Phantasy Star/Xenosaga (both series I love). Should be getting this asap...good on GOG for getting a cool JRPG on here. :)

LooZ: Polanie, anyone?!?!

heh - i wonder if Polanie were released in some other language than polish ;)
nostalgia, nostalgia... to be honest - floppy disc version was my first 'non_open_sourced' game on PC :| (but i'm cured and 100% good boy now)
+1 vote for polanie! (but again - right now we have 'only english versions' policy here, on GOG)
i have never played Gorky (17 and its sequel). i think i'll give it a try since we have this on GOG.
thx GOG team!

Septerra Core is more like a game inspired by JRPGs, but isn't really a JRPG (it was developed by an American studio and published by a German publisher). In both art style and game play, it looks very similar to a Final Fantasy type game though.

Bolek: Oh and what about Knights and Merchants (Peasants Rebellion and Shattered Kingdom)? I have both of them, but they dont run very good on XP ;/

K&M - i remember these :) -> topware responce for Settlers series from blue-byte (<chalange>give us some blue byte games gog!</challange> besides Settlers they gave us : battle isle series, albion and my favorite - incubation. i wonder if Ubisoft have rights for all these GOGs...

Tarzipan: Don't thank too much, you still have to pay for them ;)
I love those old games!

Thanks for clearing that up! Many thanks to you guys!
-added-
Oh shit! I just noticed the game only costs $5.99!!!!!!! This is truly a blessing!!!!
Are you guys sure you don't want to jack up the price. I mean yeah it's a 2001 game, but with all the expansion packs and Moon Project, it's a cardinal sin to not buy it!

Whoops, I misread. Thanks. :)
JRPG-inspired might be even better!
Now I just have to fight my morals. :(

They're either working the kinks out of it or just teasing the hell out of you or just waiting for Thursday so they can fill in the usual Thursday release slot.....Pick one! XD
About Gorky 17, how's the combat like? It caught my interest because the screenshots oozed atmosphere, but I'm not quite sure I like the idea of combat similar to jRPGs like Pokemon. It's not that I don't like the Final Fantasy-style of combat, but I'm not sure I want it in a game with a monster-invasion setting

It's strictly turn based. I played the game (as ODIUM) a while back when it first came out. Best way I can put it is that the game moves in real time until you encounter a creature then you go turn based. I do remember fighting in the game did not switch to a combat specific screen you just fought where you encountered the monster. Not really sure if it is a random encounter or if there are spawn points throughout the game. I can tell you this: this game is nowhere near JRPG Island of Tentacle Rape and Wide-Eyed Kids Land. It is quite tactical as you can move around in a limited area that is shown to you via highlighting of the ground and I do believe you can use cover but it has been a while so take that with a grain of salt.
lol was just playing septerra core on my netbook when i noticed that its coming to gog.
quite a good game. obviously dont need to get another digital download when i already have the boxed version though.
also just installed jack orlando on my netbook. directors cut aswell.
good old minds think alike eh? ;)
just noticed gorky17. will defo get that one because 1) it looks cool. sort of futuristic baldurs gate 2) i aint already got the original of that.

Ah I'm very curious about this part especially. I was watching a trailer, and it seems that you do not see the monster when you're moving about in real time - this is also what I read in a Gamespot user review

is it reminiscent of fallout combat style?

Check it out. it's the odium demo. Odium = Gorky 17.
it's turn-based but I don't recall being able to target specific body parts....

I'll definitely be checking out the vast majority of the stuff on GOG.com I never played.
Of course, I'll definitely want to check out whichever publisher was available next week.
