Second Batch of Winners, Thursday 12/05 2011: Gold Award:
Chiperiu Entry:
"For my contest entry, let me tell you a little about myself.
Not unlike a Surprise Child, I was given away by my parents in order to ensure their survival. Since then, I have been groomed and coerced into becoming something I wasn't; first my mind, then my body, through the process of somatization, have been gradually altered.
In my trade, I carry two swords: one is for humans, its blade made from Knowledge, while the other, which I only use against the monsters within the humans who come to seek my aid, has a blade forged from Intuition, Wisdom and a certain Attitude; its hilt is called Technique and, among my kind, no two such swords are alike. I always carry a medallion next to my heart; its name is Empathy and it is used to sense the monsters within the humans who seek my help and to understand their nature.
The monsters I battle each day are not accidents of nature or previously-undocumented species; they are created by the evil deeds of our fellow humans and fed by their own victims' sorrow and anger. It has been observed that certain monsters are born only out of certain sins. They are not without use, however, since, among the pieces that remain after any such monster is killed, there are those that can be mixed into metaphoric elixirs which heal and enhance the soul of the one who consumes them - and it is always required to meditate on them in order to gain any notable benefit from such a potion.
Within normal society, I am an outcast of sorts, since many people are afraid of those who do what I do. There are also other kinds of monster-slayers, some even backed by rulers and powerful organizations, among whom there are those who find my approach and my way of being to be obsolete; in the meantime, my school remains one with old and dangerous methods; few people survive it and not all survivors are strong enough to use their skills outside the walls of the fortresses where they are taught.
The world within which I work is never black or white; even the fiercest monsters have been created with a real use in mind and even the most beautiful deeds can be motivated by petty and selfish impulses. I, myself, am neither a hero nor a bad guy; I am just a man who wishes to practice his craft and live his life, while being caught between opposing interests, tension and pain brought forth by other monsters as well as my own scars and injuries, which I have to accept and endure for the rest of my life.
I am not a witcher; I am young Jungian analyst. From within my little office, I help other people fight their daily battles and surpass the monsters that are their mental blocks and afflictions. My school of thought uses archetypes and metaphors all the time and, by observing some, I have now discovered just how similar our craft is to that of the witchers. Thank you for helping me understand this; it has helped me put some things into perspective and it is the reason why I would love the chance to play through the latest adventures of an actual witcher.”

We here in the jury were mighty impressed by Chiperiu's entry. What at first seemed like a fine sample of fan fiction suddenly sprang into something different right at the end, and none of us saw it coming. There was no doubt who the seventh gold award should go to.}

Silver Award Winner:
KavazovAngel Entry:
Here's my entry, something I wrote many months ago when my girl was going through a terrible time. I already got my reward for writing it, she loved it, and smiled so beautifuly, even though she wasn't feeling well... but anyway, hope you'll like it too.
"Please stop, little angel,
I hear your whispered cries.
Don't cry, my angel,
Please wipe your weary eyes.
May my voice reach you softly,
It could cheer you up a little, hopefully.
Sleep on, my angel,
This light is not day yet.
The moon still graces the sky,
Try to relax gently in your bed.
Sleep on, little angel,
The world is not ready yet.
Leave your fears and worries,
For I will forever, for you, here wait.
Sleep on, my angel,
Sleep on through the night.
Don't worry, I am here,
I will guard you from the light.
Sleep on, little angel,
Sleep on, and be assured.
I will always be here, whenever you need me.
Always. Always"

Everyone in the Jury were touched by Kavazov's entry, so the seventh silver award was certainly predestined to him. --------------------
Bronze Award Winner:
Eckoman Entry:
I come to you with a plea of assistance. You see, I live in the town of StudentdeBroke (Translation: Broke Student) and while our Education District is well know, many visitors don't see the other side. Many of our Student Districts are miserable (including my own). Since we spend what little money we have on essentials, we must make due with what little entertainment we can create ourselves. Sometimes we play "Grab the Stick", where we see who can grab the stick first out of the pile of sticks, alas, it usually always ends with a tiebreaker (One person must debate why his stick is better than the rest). Othertimes we play "Who Cries First" where we must make the other person cry by pointing out their inadequacies (IE: Lack of Stick). And sometimes, if the situation calls for it, we'll play "Share the Wealth". Which only happens when someone happens to find something fun, like a crayon or a deflated basketball. We then prod the lucky son of a bi- until he agrees to share his artifice of entertainment with the rest of us, it doesn't last long...
Now, I heard about your contest (some traveler happened to drop your flier, glad I didn't decide to make it into a paper airplane) and decided to send you this letter, which if you notice is on the back of your flier. I've heard about "The Witcher 2", and how much fun and joy it is fabled to bring. If we were to somehow receive one, it could bring happyness to every single student in my district (hopefully we don't need to "Share the Wealth" with the rest of the districts...). Please Skystrider, you are our only hope. Will you be our savior?
Included in this Email is a tl;dr version of this letter, incase you hate words and a picture of one of the many sticks we use in our gamez.

The Jury decided to grant the Bronze award to the students of Eckoman's district, and we hope they can find something of interest in GOG's extensive catalouge}.
