---------------------------Voting Closed----------------------------
Seeing as GOG has enjoyed a successful first year it seems like a good time to look back and honour the highlights of those titles that GOG have revived.
HOW TO VOTE:
- Vote in as many, or as few categories as you want. No minimum required.
- One vote per category only, please. EDIT: If more than one, only first nomination will be counted.
- GOG games only, please. However you can vote for games you don't own (through GOG).
- You can vote for a category just by mentioning its number and the game you're voting for.
EDIT: New Voting categories added!
Inspired by BladderOfDoom's thread and created with consent.
1. Best Script
For this category not only should the quality of the overall storyline be considered but also the quality of dialogue, narration and any other spoken and/or written material responsible for immersing you in the game world.
2. Best Gameplay
Arguably the most important of all; this category distinguishes the annoying from the engrossing, the time consuming from the tedious and the clunky from the seamless. While the specifics depend on the nature of the game, it should be clear to all when a game is a blast to play.
3. Most innovative
Innovation is a scarcity in the gaming world. Even though we often choose to look back on past classics with rose tinted specs, this has always been true. So this award is dedicated to those who dare to be different, regardless of how successful the results were.
4. Best Graphics – Technical
The beating heart behind any game is its engine. While many downplay the importance of graphics, they nonetheless provide the visual backbone upon which all the 'more important' qualities rely. This category isn't just about how realistic a game can look. It's also about how stable and versatile an engine is, how flawless the results it produces are and how easy it is to create mods using it.
5. Best Graphics – Creative
It's not how many polygons or pixels you have. It's how you use them. This award is dedicated to those titles that bring with them a unique artistic vision. Realistic graphics need not apply.
6. Best Sound
This category is for everything audio, save for the soundtrack. The quality of the voice acting and sound effects should be considered along with their quantity. After all, it doesn't mater how good a sound effect is, or how well a line is delivered if you have to listen to it repeatedly.
7. Best Soundtrack
This one needs little explanation. Bonus points for quality and if it's downloadable separately.
8. Best Developer
The people behind your most favourite games.
9. Best Publisher
Number of GOG titles, extras and pricing should all be considered.
10. Game of the Year
AKA: your personal favourite game on GOG so far.
11. Best Action Game
12. Best Adventure Game
13. Best Racing Game
14. Best RPG Game
15. Best Shooter Game
16. Best Simulation Game
17. Best Sports Game
18. Best Strategy Game
19. Best GOG User
It's not all about rep. It's about who you personally feel have made a big difference to this site by helping others and generally being useful and/or witty.
