igor8472: I was hoping that's Fallout Tactics is strategy to :-(. Waiting for next promo...

Although generally I don't see what factors decide wether a specific game is included in a promo offer or not, in Fallout Tactic's case, I have a strong feeling it's due to the fact that it was offered at a lower price relatively recently, during the Fallout week.

Namur: In the end i ended up only getting Perimeter

deoren: I played the demo recently and really enjoyed it. I'm strongly thinking about getting it this weekend.

I already had it, but i really wanted the GOG version on my shelf. It's a great excuse to re-play it :)
I played it back when it came out and enjoyed it very much. It felt very different and original when compared to other games in the genre. It's definitely a very good choice.
I'm hoping to see Emperor's Testament on GOG's catalogue some day...
Namur let me know how Antaeus Rising goes when you've tried it
All I can say is, it's fking good. Not just good, but fking good. <333 this promo

Very first impression: DAMN, CHURCH IS FINE :)
Well, i didn't manage to play past the end of mission 4 cause some RL shite got in the way.
I hate elaborate reviews, so in a summed up way this is what i got so far:
+
. many original gameplay elements when compared with 'similar' RTS games.
. fun integration of the action elements
. good twist of the 'collect resources' aspect
. good story with a very decent ammount of detail
. the soul catcher back story and how it fits into gameplay (it's original)
. decent visuals
. decent voice acting and audio effects (Ransom´s battle cursing is top knotch, eh, eh)
. the ability to jump in and take control of any vehicle at any time
. soul catcher units seem to have a decent AI. And it seems they actually use straffing to their advantage sometimes, which was a nice surprise
. ability to issue sequential orders
. blowing shit up is fun, not to mention helpless ground personnel
-
. models faces are terrible. A hot chick like Church deserved a better face
. controls, yeah let's face it, they're not great
. minor graphical glitches (the flickering light when on the warmap room)
. some minor interface quirks
. lack of tooltips regarding targets information on the map
. vehicle perspective too close in 1st person, although to be fair i don't know if this can be changed somehow 'cause i haven't touched the manual yet.
Oh, a nice quote from Ransom that caught my attention:
"If there weren't going to be any more churches, then by God there weren't going to be any more people". Very pragmatic.
Thanks again for the nudge. Good call. A nice addition to my shelf.
Now that i know the basics i'm going to start again from scratch cause i'm not happy with my kill count and the absence of medals on my chest :)

Hey I'm glad you enjoy it. Yeah Ransom is awesome, his bantering and big headed ego just makes the game so much more entertaining!

I was afraid of that answer but have hope that Tactics will be included :-). At least I bought Sacrifice.
Picked up Perimeter. Neat game. :)

lowyhong: Does anyone else think M.A.X. alone is worth the $4.99 right now? I've read so many bad reviews of MAX 2.

I purchased the pack for the original game but M.A.X. isn't for everybody. There can be a decent amount of micromanagement required and resources can be distributed on the map in way that gives one player a good sized advantage over an other. Of course, the game also has a pesky tendency to crash after the 100th turn....
M.A.X. is a flawed gem that manages to succeed in areas where modern games still can't seem to get things right. If you aren't especially interested in a good logistics system, flexible upgrade paths, a working turn/real-time hybrid system, or anything else the game does well then you probably won't be all that satisfied with it.
Good summary thanks. I guess I'll stay away from it for now because of the crash, at least until someone figures out a way to fix it.
