BTW I actually got derepped for cursing out the people who did that. My post has since been reserected from the "low rating" dungeon but the fact that I got nailed at all simply for telling people not to be so mean is totally fucked up.

And I just noticed Stuffs post accusing me of being hacker is 'high rated'. That is a pretty nasty thing to accuse anyone of, even an asshole such as myself, add to that the fact that he is doing it with ZERO proof and he gets uprepped for it. Sometimes this place scares the piss out of me.

Seriously. At the end of six months, if I have lived up to my end of the deal, you have to come in here and post that I'm the best you've ever had.

One could argue that it's not the only means. Even without the rep system everyone judges others by what they write. And such things like credibility, good will, ... depend on what one writes and will influence future responses or if there will be a response at all. You can always troll but you can also always make fun of the trolls too. So the rep system isn't so vital. I don't like this beauty contest that arises from the rep number which is not really a meaningful number.

The ability to set other users on ignore (or also maybe on emphasize) would probably be much more useful.

This gave me a good laugh. Did anyone when they were a kid have one of their parents play the "quiet game" where you were challenged to stay quiet/still/etc. for a certain period of time in order to "win"? I remember played that game *many* times as a small child (I probably only had a success percentage of around 50%). Of course, "winning" was usually its own reward and losing never meant buying something for my parents, but still, it makes me think of that. Good times, good times...
