I too am the target of a group of downrep trolls its even so bad that one of my GA threads op went from high to low and back to high again (I guess more people liked it than the DR troll group) I even considered making a thread about it myself but LiquidSnake beat me to it.
I have started ignoring rep.
If I get a downrep in a thread where you ask for games for asking for a game so be it.
My GAs will continue as there are more wonderful people than DR trolls.
My appreciation of the forum in general have fallen immensely as the DR continues but I will not let a small group of people dictate what I write and where I spend my time.

I don't follow my rep, although I remember a thread from someone saying he will track the rep of anyone posting in that thread. So maybe he knows. I just don't care enough to look up that thread.

I can't see any reason why this post was downrepped. Insults, really bad taste, weird reasoning, ... aren't really present, so it shouldn't be downvoted.

The rep number should better go and be replaced by a post count. The up and down voting of posts can maybe still persevere, after all it only affects single posts.

The hiding of posts or hiding of whole users is problematic. I don't really like it. I once saw it in action and coherence in discussion considerably dropped because half of the people were ignoring the other half of the people.

There must be minimal standards for a post based on good taste and reason. Posts not living up to this should be reported and deleted if GOG sees it similarly.

The main problem with using the "-" button as a "hide this post" feature is that it actually works on a personal level regardless of other circumstances. That is, if you click "-" on a post, that post will be hidden from you, even if you don't have the "hide low-rated posts" option checked in your forum settings. So, in effect, it's already being used as a personal "ignore user" feature, despite not being intended to work as such. The only difference is that the target user starts to lose points due to this, hence the massive downrepping.

If more people were like you this would be a non-issue.

Also if my service providers didn't have their heads of their assess I could respond to these post quicker. :P

Here you are whining in yet another "rep sucks" thread?? You insist on playing the victim of unfair down repping. If you want to be the forum bad boy you should man up and take the negative feedback (in the form of down reps) that doing so generates.

You have been given advice by many community members on many occasions on how to avoid the wrath of the community yet . . you insist on spam posting, making inflammatory remarks and other idiot posts that will get down repped . . . you do it over and over and over and over. The similarities between you and GameRager are amazing as he too played the victim, claimed attacks, ignored advice.

There are tens of thousands of community member posting on a regular basis. IMHO, disregarding the obvious trolls and spam . . less that 20 people get down repped by the community in a given week or month. Your reputation, having nothing to do with your rep number, is a major factor for why your passive/aggressive tactics generate down reps.

As an example, here you are down repped. Looks unfair unless you know that your original post read as follows:

Down repping is a typical extrovert tactic, they cannot defend their own opinions so they cling to cliques of like-minded people and try to silence anyone who disagrees with them by down-repping. You'll find these kind of tactics are most common amongst the most hyper-social people of society, the gossipers and the types who think the amount of "friends" and "contacts" they have is the sum of their life.

Having seen your rep drop and suddenly rise 5 points by a post being "highly rated", a nonsense post that would not warrant an up rep, make me believe you are using alts. No proof, just opinion. Since you are obsessed with rep it seems to follow that you would game the system.
