Damn, I guess I'm just another dirty pirate after all. Arrr!
so....
will it change anything?
The tv-links guy got arrested and a week later we had at least five more websites offering similar service (i have two bookmarked).
and there are already other torrent search engines out there.
so does it matter what happen to piratebay?

lukaszthegreat: so does it matter what happen to piratebay?

Yes it does. If American media corporations get a precedent saying that they can get away with having their viewpoints forced through in other countries, in defiance of the actual laws in those countries, then the world is hastily sliding towards the future outlined by William Gibson in Neuromancer, and other novels. In other words, prepare to become a "citizen of Sony".

And so the war between the Jedi (Microsoft) and the Sith (Apple) begin!

You know guys, thanks to you two this has turned into one of the most enjoyable threads I ever participated in.
Normally I find myself the only one in an online discussion trying to be the voice of reason and always trying to back up everything I say with cross referenced sources, instead of blatantly saying anything that comes to mind.
So cheers DarkPhoenix and Vurly Sejayjay (see what I did there?).

Well I actually don't see what you did there and it's making me feel very stupid :P. Also, I agree about DarrkPhoenix's posts, very interesting stuff indeed. Not sure the praise is justified in my direction though :).

You discussed some of the pseudo moral issues.
As for the "riddle"
Below your Avatar it says:
Nafe
Crumpy Gunt
And I called you Vurly Sejayjay
I think you can figure out the rest yourself, the latter part is phonetically and it's a word that Jimmy Carr uses sometimes.

Ok, I get it now and feel even stupider, though in my defence I'd actually completely forgotten about my little crumpy title :).

The first step towards omniscience is acknowledging that you're stupid.
So, in all you're on the right track grasshopper.

This makes me hope that we'll end up having opposing opinions in some future discussion, as it'll probably mean that I get exposed to ideas I hadn't considered before and have my opinions on matters changed in some way. Best possible result of a discussion, in my opinion.
And Nafe's title makes me chuckle a little every time I see it.

That's something I'm looking forward to as well.
In most forums there are only pseudo discussions.
You can only have a discussion when there is at least one point all parties can agree upon, if this is missing then it's not a discussion but simply people shouting at walls.

Zolgar: Oh and the "Pirating isn't the same as stealing something physical." yeah, it is.

I'm not going to get too involved in this as it's just beating a dead horse. But when I see the short sighted masses spew their rather weak arguments and try to throw in a "piracy = stealing" it just pisses me right off. I've posted this before and I'm going to post this again because this whole stupid idea of piracy = stealing is false:
Dowling v. the United States (1985)
This important bit is here for those who fail at reading comprehension:
From Justice Blackmun's majority opinion:
The phonorecords in question were not "stolen, converted or taken by fraud" for purposes of section 2314. The section's language clearly contemplates a physical identity between the items unlawfully obtained and those eventually transported, and hence some prior physical taking of the subject goods. Since the statutorily defined property rights of a copyright holder have a character distinct from the possessory interest of the owner of simple "goods, wares, (or) merchandise," interference with copyright does not easily equate with theft, conversion, or fraud. The infringer of a copyright does not assume physical control over the copyright nor wholly deprive its owner of its use. Infringement implicates a more complex set of property interests than does run-of-the-mill theft,
conversion, or fraud.
I hate the fucking quote system on this site... I wish they'd fix it :/

michaelleung: Why would anyone ignore Turkey and wait eons to sell you guys new games? Turkey is a booming up-and-coming country, and to have this country resort to pirating/paying stupid amounts of cash for games on Steam is ridiculous. Hell, we're a region and we get pretty much every single company selling us localized games for cheap. (And we still pirate.)

Umm its because you guys are Asian, HAHA...ok poor taste I know I know, but you seem like you could appreciate it.
xD

I thought the part of Turkey east of Istanbul is also Asia.
A long time ago I was in an IT course, there was a Turk from the eastern part of Turkey and a Vietnamese sitting next to each other in front of me. I joked with them a lot, the running politically incorrect gag was something like :"could you two please where badges with your names or something like that, because to me all you Asian fellas look alike"
