This is quite a turn of events.
It's pretty arrogant of the judge to think that his ties to the copyright lobby doesn't affect his judging skills.
It actually doesn't even matter if it could affect him, what matters is, is that people can suspect him of being biased.
You should always approach such a high profile case with maximum discretion.
After the news of the judge's perceived connection within the prosecution, the justiciary ombudsman in Sweden have been flooded with complaints. 45 official written complaints were received before the office closed it's doors yesterday, and all of them pointed out the relationship the judge has / has had with different copyright organizations.
The ombudsman will not himself take any side pertaining to these allegations, but the case will now be sent directly to the courts.
One of the organizations in question has altered it's webpages, to make them look less political (in fact not political at all) and more like just another meeting forum for people sharing common interests, despite the webpage clearly saying something different not too long ago.
It's foul play, all over the boards, and it's so out in the open they can't get away with it. I can already say I have purchased my last CD.

Archive.org to the rescue?

Miaghstir: Archive.org to the rescue?

When they get some decent fucking Death Metal, then, yes, Archive.org to the rescue.
well archive.org would be better used to find the pre-edit webpage but I agree they really DO need metal.

I do forget that they don't only archive web pages... it was the pre-edit I was thinking of.
Everybody could use a little more Metal in their diet.
Update
Second judge assigned to the piratebay case removed
http://www.mcvuk.com/news/34385/Second-judge-removed-from-Pirate-Bay-case
This soap just keeps on going.
And wtf were they thinking trying to assign her to the case.
Name me ONE judge in Sweden who ISN'T corrupt or has ties to intellectual property associations, please.
This judge was appointed (and now removed) to look into the bias claim regarding the first judge's associations with the Copyrigh crowd.

“Furthermore, because of the content of the claim of bias, it has been deemed proper that the question should be answered by a division that is not specialised in copyright.”
That look's like the smart thing to do if you ask me. Why would you need judges specialized in copyright / IP to decide if some other judge reached a biased veredict ?

FFS... I have to admit, I had higher expectations of the Swedish justice system. Especially in view of the revelations of the first judge's obvious legal incompetence. But then, they go and appoint a second judge to examine the claims of bias on the part of the first judge, who is herself a member of the same two organizations that made the first judge legally incompetent in the first place! How the hell did that come about? Why didn't they check this before appointing her? Why didn't she speak up herself? This whole farce looks more and more like a conspiracy. It doesn't even matter whether they deserve to be found guilty anymore. Noone, no matter how guilty, deserves this mockery of justice. If the Swedish government is so sure of their case, why won't they just give them a fair trial?

Money speaks very loudly. It's hard to listen to reason or anything else with so much noise :)

Yeah. that's most urgent question. I would presume they are obligated to inform 'the system' if there is a chance of being biased.
I wonder whether there will be any repercussion against her...
unless she was open about it and was still assigned to the case by 'higher' power (not sure how it works)

Swoosh (runs fingers through money) "Oh sorry, I can't hear you over how scummy rich I am"
So two judges that have been appointed have had ties to the plaintiffs. I wonder if one of the a pointers is also tied to the plaintiff. These mistakes are not going to make the Swedish judicial system look good in the eyes of the world. Not to mention that any reelections are not going to look good if they are involved with corruption.

At the very least, the Swedish Secretary Of Justice has some explaining to do.
