Just a short question:

In the past I bought over 30 GOG-games using Paypal for payment and it worked flawlessly. But now, since GOG relaunched their shop, Paypal requests a creditcard (or money on my PP-account).

That's strange. Because I do not own a creditcard, I used Paypal for years. I linked my bank account to them, so they could take the money by direct bank debit.

As I said before over 30 GOG-orders worked like that (and many, many other orders from different shops worldwide).

I haven't found a solution yet, except of charging money to the PP-account, but that always take some days.

The Paypal-Support suc*s so they won't solve the problem. Did GOG change anything about PP-payments?

What about you, other customers (not only from Germany), does Paypal give you any restrictions for payments?

Cheers

I bought yesterday here using Paypal connected to my bank account without a problem, so I guess it's more a problem between your bank and Paypal. Did you check your Paypal account if your bank account is still valid?

Edit: Log into paypal and then go to "Profile"/"Add or remove bank account". You will see then if your bank account is enabled or not.

I think that needing a card registered to your Paypal account is at Paypal's insistence. If you've got a direct debit bank account then surely you have a DD card you can register with Paypal?
From our point of view, we can only process instant payment methods, so if for some reason PayPal cannot process your payment attempt as such, we will not be able to accept it.

Our logs show that your payment attempts were rejected by your bank, but no details are given. If it isn't a big inconvenience, I strongly suggest sending the appropriate funds to PayPal before attempting to process your order.
For some reason, Paypal doesn't like it if I want to send funds to my account. Everything else works fine though, since I have Visa Electron registered to it.
Thanks for your answers.

@ dukenukenforever: Yes, checked everything. bank account is valid.

@ navagon: I don't get your point. I think there's a difference between german bank accounts and international ones. I think there are different kinds of cards. Now I do have a "normal german" card, which I can use for payments in german shops. For international transactions (for journeys, whatever) I have to apply a "real" credit card (visa, mastercard,...).

Anyways, I think the problem is at Paypal. But their support do not answer my questions in the way it would help. -.-
Atm, they are speaking of their "security system" and "in very few instances". But they don not tell me, why 30 orders worked...

Any specific error message when you attempt to send funds to PayPal? I'm assuming that you're sending these funds from your bank account, but correct me if I'm wrong.

In general, as far as us support folk go, sending funds to PayPal beforehand is the ultimate "when all else fails" workaround. Not everyone likes PayPal, plus it can take a while for the funds to reach PayPal, but I wasn't aware of any issues with that method.

Oh, ok. Strange. But that's a GOG - Paypal thing. F.e.: Some days ago, I bought the IndieRoyale-Bundle flawlessly.
Thanks for your advice with my bank, I will contact them.

Anyways, I did a money transfer to my PP-account. But this will take some days (thanks to Easter). I hope, your HoMMV+AC offer will be still on...

This is what I get:
Add Funds is Not Available
PayPal does not currently offer the ability to add funds from your bank account.

Technically, I wouldn't even need this, because I use paypal to transfer funds immediately. But it did confuse me a little. A year ago, this option was working fine, and e.g. moneybookers like the idea just fine (I don't use them that much, though).

If sending funds to PayPal beforehand is not an option for you, send me a PM. We've got a secret ultimate workaround, but it's a bit manual on both sides and can take a while to process... So sending funds to PayPal and trying again would be preferable. ;)

Even though my card withdraws money from exactly the same account as that which is registered with Paypal, they still accept it.

So maybe your 'normal German' card will be enough, so long as it has a 16 digit number and an expiry date.

Looks like the option was disabled by PayPal in your country, then... It's weird considering it worked before... Thanks for the clarification, anyway. :)

I do know that this "manual sending" will work. I had the same problem with my Grimrock preorder. I thought that it is a "immediate instance" and send money to PP. And it worked.

But that's not a solution for your every limited offers because this payment takes about 2 working days. And Paypal is not that trustworthy that I would give them too much money in advance.

What about a special payment option for german customers ("sofortüberweisung.de"/ "giropay")? ;)

€: typo
€²: have to correct my idea about another payment option: we need another solution for all customers. PP doesn't work in Slovenia & Cambodia too... ;)

I think it's a regional thing. Paypal won't let me add funds to my account either, though it lets me pay with my Visa.

I have asked out payment system provider's support people to comment on the exact cause of your payment problem. They need to communicate with PayPal themselves, though, so it can take a while for them to respond...

As for other instant payment methods, it's something we would like to do, but it's not something we'll be working on in the immediate future. Please be patient. :)

Also, I will send you a PM in a sec. ;)
